Would You Wednesday: It’s a Wrap!

By |January 12th, 2011|Why Did or Why Don't?|

In 1973 Diane von Furstenberg debuted her first wrap dress which through up’s and down’s would remain a constant staple piece in any savvy woman’s arsenal.  Despite some business woes in the late seventies, DVF was relaunched in 1997 and has been growing stronger since.  The reason her clothing (especially that wrap dress) has maintained popularity is because they are designed for women to wear on an every day basis. They are functional, yet still beautiful.  Most of her designs can easily transcend day to night. And the best part? Basically ever body type looks fantastic in her wraps!

So, when I heard she had introduced a wrap romper to her line this season, I was ecstatic.  I mean, I don’t know that anyone needs a wrap romper, per se… but I just love anything romper.  When you add DVF + romper it =’s a huge win in my book.

While my love for rompers is unwavering, I know that not everyone (unbelievably) feels the same way.  What do you think about the DVF wrap romper? Love it? Hate it?

I think I’ll wrap that up to go.

Would You Wednesday: When I Think About You…

By |January 5th, 2011|Why Did or Why Don't?|

Taylor Momsen was criticized not so long about when she made remarks about young girls needing to “learn yourself first.”  She also let it be known that she is an advocate for female masturbation and considers her vibrator her best friend. While, her comments were a bit shocking coming from a seventeen year old, I think she may very well be on to something.

For so long, girls have been taught that sex and especially masturbation are “bad.”  Both have almost been made to feel shameful for young ladies.  Meanwhile, boys go through the whole Vaseline by the nightstand phase without a bit of guilt.  Girls need to learn what feels good.  So many are under the impression that sex and submission is to impress boys and never really learn what and where all their pieces and parts do and are. Maybe if girls realized they could make themselves feel good, they wouldn’t give it up so easily.  Perhaps then we wouldn’t be bombarded with shows like Sixteen and Pregnant and Teen Moms.

Not convinced  yet? Even Oprah hosted a show about this very topic. During the show, her guest, Dr. Berman, agreed that young girls should learn about orgasms and self pleasure in order to take control over their own sexuality and in the process avoid unhealthy sexual experiences, get more information at supremasi.top.  Some of you may be blushing as you read this, but with only 30% of women regularly having orgasms from sex, seems to me like we all could use a little education and perhaps a little help from our battery operated friends.

What do you think?

Would You Wednesday: Without Resolve

By |December 29th, 2010|Why Did or Why Don't?|

The end of 2010 is quickly approaching and we’re all getting a little nostalgic. Every year, people set unrealistic expectations for the upcoming year promising to exercise more, work harder, and generally be better people. I don’t see anything wrong with reflecting on the past year, but perhaps promising yourself something totally outrageous is a bit overzealous.

It seems like a good idea in theory, but how many people are successful with their resolutions? Oh, I should be fluent in French, weight 14 lbs, and have a wallet that doesn’t fit in my purse by now but that didn’t seem to happen.  Whoops. So what are some realistic resolutions? Why not vow to stay in touch with old friends and family?  Perhaps try taking up an interesting exercise class or start a new hobby.  Telling yourself you’re going to cure cancer or cellulite might end up in disappointment. (Though I’d like someone to go ahead and cure both).

So what do you think? Will you be making a New Year’s resolution or not?

Why Did You Date Him: If You Have to Ask…

By |December 8th, 2010|Why Did or Why Don't?, Why Did You Date Him?|

I should be shot for admitting this… but the other day I was watching Married to Rock on E! (I know) and one of the women on the show- I believe her name is AJ- decided that it was time to take matters into her own hands.  She is the only one on the show who is not officially “married” to rock.  Apparently feeling left out, she hits the jeweler and picks out a rock for herself and starts to plan a grand proposal to her rocker love.

Um, I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news… but if you have to ask… you probably already know the answer.  There is no reason that you should need to go out and buy your own ring (not to mention his) and essentially propose to yourself. If  a man wants to marry you, he will.

By putting your man on the spot, you may end up with an unwanted outcome.  We all know, most men would probably rather remove their own penises before having to tell you the awful truth.  So, while he may say “yes” out of sheer horror, I fear that you may be in for your very own frightfest down the road when he realizes he doesn’t want to go through with it.

There are some gender roles that don’t need to be reversed. Just sayin…

So, would you propose to your man?

Would You Wednesday: Wife Under the Knife

By |December 2nd, 2010|Why Did or Why Don't?|

So, I meant to write about this a while ago… actually as soon as I’d seen the promotional commercial for it. Bridalplasty. What the $*#&? Really?

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, (and I applaud you if that’s the case) Bridalplasty is a show on E! where the contestants are competing not only for  dream wedding worth $100,000, but also a brand new face and body.  I attempted to watch the entire show, but I could only get through a portion. Part of that had to do with the sheer ridiculousness of it all and the other part was my inability to stare at Shanna Moakler’s poorly done yellow hair. (I mean, forget Botox, a good dye job can do wonders).  Anyway, most of the girls on the show are already pretty. There is nothing wrong with them. These are not deformed women who have experienced traumatic accidents and disfigurement. I mean, they’re no Heidi or Giselle’s, but really, who is?

Good lord, women! Did you learn nothing from Heidi Montag? Last I checked, she wants her old face back! I have heard of bridezillas and about girls getting cah-raaaaazy about their weddings, but I think this has taken things a bit (and by a bit I mean quantum leaps) too far. I know every little girl wants to look pretty for her big white wedding, however, getting a whole new appearance just seems sick. Why not just hire a body double?  Life isn’t an episode of Nip/Tuck. Would you go under the knife for your big day?
