Why Did You Wear That: Puddle Jumper

By |April 24th, 2012|Why Did You Wear That?|

It happens every year.  Just like clockwork, we start to get a little too comfortable with the glorious spring- turning into summer- weather… and then, the clouds roll in, open up, and the rain comes down.  It’s kind of like Mother Nature is just reminding us that she’s still around.  She really does have a twisted sense of humor.  So, that leads us to the age old problem:  how does one stay dapper without getting drenched?

Year after year, I’ve rounded up the most waterproof footwear that’s sure to keep your precious Pradas and Louboutins free from getting waterlogged.  From your feet to your ‘fro, it’s not easy keeping in chic in the spring storms.  There are times you may just want to throw your hands up and think, “Forget it.  It’s raining, I’m gonna call it a loss.”  Here’s the thing:  your rainboots don’t have to be heinous.  Designers have really cranked it up a notch and created rainboots that are nearly as attractive as your everyday footwear wardrobe.  (Have they finally heard our prayers?)  Now, when the rain stops, you won’t be left looking silly in your big rubber wellies.  Instead, you’ll be as lovely as the sunny days that await you in May.

Setting the Mood: Sunshine State of Mind

By |April 23rd, 2012|Setting the Mood|

florida inspiration boardWhen I picked up and fled the left coast, I didn’t book a return ticket.  I really had no plans, but ended up landing in the sunny state of Florida.  I didn’t know how long I’d stay or what I planned on doing, but it was an escape and a good one at that.  Being surrounded by beautiful weather and scenery and even more beautiful friends proved to be just the right dosage of vitamin D (sunshine) and vitamin C (Florida oranges, of course) to get me back on my feet.  I sometimes forget that my roots are actually right here in Florida.  I spent the majority of my youth growing up in the Sunshine State.  Maybe it’s because I’ve moved around so much that it seems so foreign or that any time I’ve come back to visit, it hasn’t been for more than a long weekend.  However, being back for an extended period of time, I’ve found that it all still resonates with me.  I remember the school field trips to Cape Canaveral, the family road trips to Disney, running barefoot in the backyard and collecting hermit crabs in the Indian River.  I’m leaving again in a week and I don’t really know what is up next, but I can’t say I won’t be back.  Perhaps when I said I was coming home, I really meant here?  Stay tuned…

Friday Frocks: Black and White and …

By |April 20th, 2012|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

black and whiteI love the crisp contrast of black and white especially when it comes to a flirty frock.  It’s not basic black.  It’s not stark white.  It’s a happy combination of both and looks good on everyone.  The look can also be accessorized in a multitude of ways.  Punch it up with bright accessories, or go glam with shiny metallics.  It seems I am not alone in my love of all things opposite as designers have designed an array of black and white from stripes, to swirls, to dots, to simple trims.  Black and white is a perfect way to transition from breezy spring to balmy summer.

The List Volume LXX

By |April 20th, 2012|The List|

instagram photosRemember how I said that one of the first things I do in the morning after opening my eyes is look at my phone?  Well, after checking any emails, texts, etc. (can’t stand any little red numbers), the next thing I do is head on over to good ol’ Instagram.  And I know I’m not alone (there’s a reason Facebook plunked down a cool $1B for the photo sharing app).  I love a stream of pictures (they are worth a thousand words, right?) as opposed to the banal status updates of Facebook and Twitter.  However, something bad has happened.  People are starting to abuse the right to post.  Just as some people talk only to hear their own voices, it seems some people post just to post.  When I speak, it’s because I have something to say.  When I post a photo, it’s because I think it’s actually worth seeing.  I think it’s high time we set up some Instagram sharing guidelines.  What say ye?

  1. Photos that you did not actually take.  That’s what Pinterest is for.
  2. Oh, your photo is kinda blurry?  Try taking another one.  If you can’t tell what it is, I most certainly can’t either.
  3. Let me preface this by saying, I like a good outfit post.  I like to see what you’re wearing (obviously) and understand that sometimes self photography is the only way.  The picture you took of yourself in the mirror with the flash on.  A). I can’t see your face, B). your mirror is dirty.  Flash off, friends.
  4. Your blue steel/duck lips face.  Just stop.
  5. Your vodka tonic.  Are there flames or smoke coming out?  No?  Don’t post it.
  6. I know that Some E-Cards are pretty funny, but are we done yet?  Can we relegate those to Facebook?
  7. I’m a sucker for animals and even post photos of my own pup, but 19 photos in a row of Wiggles is excessive (and obsessive).
  8. The same goes for babies.  I love your sweet little nugget, but at least put him/her in a silly hat or something.
  9. Your breakfast.  Unless it’s wild rhino on a spit, no one cares.
  10. Every single picture from your night out.  It’s called editing.  Pick a good one (two max) to share.

Oh, and if you are as obsessed with Instagram as the rest of us and you think your photos are stellar enough to make a case for your phone, you MUST check out Casetagram.  Welcome.

WhyDid Wisdom: Place Your Bets

By |April 19th, 2012|Why Did You Date Him?, WhyDid Wisdom|

james bond casinoI read a quote the other day that said, “The most common way to fail is by playing it safe. ”  It sounds a bit contradictory at first, but may hold more truth than you’d initially think. To learn more, you can find all the information you need on this page. Knowledge about betting will give you the advantage.

After a breakup, or failed experience, you are likely to be barraged with comments like “take what you learned from this and apply it in the future” or “this is only going to make you smarter.”  You probably just want to tell these well wishers to GFY.  Well, as it turns out, as long as your eyes, mind, and heart are open, there actually can be quite a bit to take away from even the most terrible of situations.

After a very traumatic breakup with the Don Draper of Wall Street (or least in his head), I felt wounded and fragile.  (You guys remember that one?)  He was a bit of a wild card and I knew what I was getting myself into from the very beginning, but I was suffering from ITIS (I Think I’m Special) syndrome and took a chance.  When my hand played out precisely the way one might expect I was not totally shocked.  To say I was upset?  Yes.  Hurt?  For sure.  Surprised?  Not particularly.

I sat out a few hands to recollect myself, but the next time I stepped up to the table to play a little love roulette, I opted to place a much safer bet. check out star slots for best instructions on how to not lose control when placing bets. When I took a gamble on the other end of the spectrum (a safe bet) and lost again, it was most certainly a shock. Instead of giving up, because of the difficulties in your betting experience, you must know that there are many different types of soccer bets to take part in. for many of them, you may have found the best for yourself. Probably more shocking and upsetting than losing a big bet.  How could I have been so careful, had such good odds and still lost?  I thought by aiming “low” or being conservative I might not hit the jackpot, but at least was going to win a lil somethin’.  I’d hoped for the best, took a gamble, and lost. I should probably learn more from daisyslots about how to win the bet and stay low until I’m really good.

What I learned from both of these experiences is that it doesn’t matter if he’s the shiny, suave Wall Street type or the disheveled, artsy IT guy.  The big bet or the little gamble.  Anyone can hurt you or turn out to be a “loss.”  Having had bad experiences at both levels has made me tentative about making any decisions at all.  I tend to just sit and worry until the decision is eventually just made for me.  Well, that’s really no way to live. I seen a quote in an article in the online gambling news at EasyMobileCasino.com “There’s no way you will end up becoming a high roller just keeping your cards close to your chest.” It is very true, sometimes you have to just double down and put it all out on the table.

Just remember, a safe bet may be the most dangerous bet you can make. But let me remind you I have never lost on Clubvip777 while  playing casino games.
