Some of our very favorite celebrity fashionistas hit the tents this week to take in the shows at Lincoln Center. While some were wearing their summer best til the bitter end, others debuted their new fall favorites. I love seeing the ladies bracing themselves for the cooler temperatures. To me, fashion week is like “back to school” for the fashion elite. Though it may seem confusing (we’re seeing spring shows in the fall- and vice versa), this is second nature to fashion week veterans. Friday Frocks: Aw, Silky Silky Now

When the summer ends and the fall winds start to blow, the skimpy sundresses and chunky espadrilles are tucked away and replaced with heavier fabrics and more sophisticated silhouettes. From September until well into the new year, it seems we are bombarded with non stop parties, events, and holidays – kicking off with fashion week and finally ending with a midnight kiss. That’s when a lady needs to make sure she is prepared to dress up and get down. A long silky gown in neutrals or jewel tones is a surefire hit for any event requiring a bit more glamour than skinnies and a (faux) fur coat. Elegant, sophisticated, and very feminine. This is what timeless glamour is all about.

Fashion’s Night Out with StyleList and Saks

Why I Can’t Sit Through the VMA’s

Oh sweet heaven above. Perhaps I’m just getting old, but I tuned into the MTV VMA pre-show because you know I love to blog about the oh so crazy fashion on the red carpet. However, after witnessing Justin Bieber arrive with a snake named “Johnson” followed by Nicki Minaj in another one of Lady Gaga’s rejected costumes, I couldn’t take much more. Then Katy Perry showed up with pink hair and Asian garb- complete with parasol- and I’d had enough. I needed to make a cocktail if I was going to attempt to sit through this shit storm. (Irene who?)

When I returned with a Bloody Mary, there was a very strange man performing “You And I.” Was I drunk on vodka fumes alone? Oh, it’s just Gaga.

You know who’s not drunk? Beyonce.

Now I’m gonna go finish my cocktail and if I have it in me will continue with red carpet commentary.

Why Did You Wear That: Soak It In

A month or so ago, I had the pleasure of staying at the Napa River Inn and while the entire place was quite magical, one of my favorite parts was the beautiful claw foot bathtub. To be honest, the only thing better than soaking all your troubles away in a beautiful big tub with fizzy bath salts is doing so with a big fizzy glass of sparkling wine. While I couldn’t document said activities on WhyDid without getting a stern email from my father, I couldn’t pass up the chance to snap some photos of this beautiful (and my dream) bathroom.

Lace pants and a silky top were perfectly sexy and sophisticated for a romantic Saturday night dinner in Napa (not so much for a bath). Accessorized with shiny metallic sandals and my go to bangles for just the right amount of sparkle.
