Setting the Mood: In the Mood for Love… or Something

This Saturday, I plan on changing up my standard behaviors of drinking wine in bed watching Sex and the City re-runs, by doing the same thing with one of my best friends in our underwear. That’s right, it’s Valentine’s Day (or as it’s been renamed, Singles’ Awareness Day). Truth be told, I love red roses– so long as there isn’t one single sprig of baby’s breath within a five mile radius. I also love lingerie from this website, chocolate, gifts, and well, love, and that’s why many couples enjoy to spend time together and also use toys as a butt vibrator to enjoy their love. I don’t actually have a problem with the holiday other than the fact that it’s a commercially manufactured one and it’s still not legal to marry your pet as there are not really any other suitable males in my life to spend February 14th with.

It seems a little counterintuitive to combine wearing skimpy lingerie while overindulging in chocolate, but then again, I enjoy all my meals in bed, so I’m in. If you don’t have a significant other, or even if you do, I think Valentine’s Day is a great a day as any to show yourself a little bit of love. Setting the Mood: Under Covers

I may be appalled at the thought of wearing pearls and Tory Burch ballet flats give me the creeps, but no one who knows me intimately would argue that I’m anything but feminine. I may have matured from favoring hot pink hues for home and wardrobe, but I will never tire of delicate lace, soft satin, and intricate details that make being a woman worth all of the cramps, bloating, skewed salaries, and cat calls. When I spent several years in the high end world of lingerie, I acquired new found admiration for all that goes into underpinnings. Perhaps there will only be a few special someones who are ever fortunate enough to see the contents of your knicker drawer (unless you use your delicates as decor), but the most feminine thing I think a woman can do is dress for herself.

Friday Frocks: Queen of the Night

It’s ironic that someone who spent the majority of her life obsessed with apparel and who threw her very first temper tantrum at the tender age of two over a pair of shoes would rather spend most of her time as an adult wearing as little as possible without catching a charge for indecent exposure. But the moment the door clicks closed behind me, all bets are off and so are my clothes. It should come as no surprise then, that when the summer heat kicks into full swing causing me to question whether or not I’m suffering from early menopausal hotflashes, that I will find any means possible to wear what might equate to a tissue’s amount of fabric as a frock.
