Beauty Buzz: Best Kept Secret

By |May 3rd, 2012|Beauty Buzz|

kerastase cristallisteBack in March, I was fortunate enough to test out the new line from Kerastase called Cristalliste.  It’s been touted as the “best kept secret for long hair” and I’ve gotta say… they weren’t kidding.  That’s why I couldn’t possibly keep Cristalliste a secret for long.  While, I was open to sharing my latest haircare find, I do have some other secrets.  And don’t we all?

Kerastase Cristalliste is now available in salons and online but, I figured I’d give you pretty ladies a chance to divulge your best kept hair secrets for a chance to win some Cristalliste of your own.  But first, I will share my best kept hair secrets with you…  What kind of friend would I be otherwise?

Now that I’ve shown you mine, it’s time to show me yours.

The nitty gritty:  To enter, “like” Kerastase’s Facebook page and leave your best kept hair secret in the comments section of this blog post by Monday, May 14th 2012.  Please be sure to include your name and email address (so you can be notified).  Three winners will be chosen.  Sorry, contest is open to US residents only.

Time to show and tell!

Why Did You Wear That: Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From the Tree

By |October 4th, 2011|Why Did You Wear That?|

Throughout the years, friends have come and gone.  I’ve met some of the greatest women in the world and called them my friends, but the one woman who stands out in my mind has been there since the beginning.  She’s seen me at my best and at my very worst and never, ever left my side.  That very special lady happens to be my mother.  I know, I know, it sounds so trite, but it’s the truth.

I would say, I’m a fairly feminine gal, and I’m willing to bet my ruffled bloomers that my mom instilled that in me from a very early age.  You see, after having two adorable little boys, she was overjoyed to finally have her own little mini me—and who could blame her?  For as long as I can remember (and as far back as photos can document), I was always dressed to the nines with ruffles, bows, and anything pink.  Despite my then bald head, there was no way of mistaking me for a little boy.

While as a teenager, I thought I was much cooler than I ever really was and probably didn’t treat my mother the way I wish I would have.  That didn’t discourage her though.  She tolerated my eye rolls and temper tantrums knowing that one day I’d come around.  And come around I did…

Why A Little Lipgloss Never Hurts:

By |September 4th, 2011|Beauty Buzz|

Growing up, my mother always told me, “Pretty is as pretty does.” To this day I hold that as a universal truth but, even the most beautiful girl (both inside and out) could benefit from a little swipe of mascara and a smudge of lip gloss.

The key to an everyday makeup look is to look like yourself… but better. We’re all this “naturally” beautiful, right? I mean, I wake up looking like this.

Your “day face” shouldn’t take you more than five minutes to apply and conveniently enough can be achieved with just five simple products:

500 Posts and Two Years Later. Thank You.

By |November 28th, 2010|Uncategorized|

When I wrote my first post two years ago, I had very little knowledge of blogging, but had quite a bit to say. I started writing as a creative outlet as a disgruntled employee crunching numbers on excel sheets and placing re-orders on Hanky Panky thongs.  Originally, I had wanted this blog to be completely anonymous so that I could simply talk about tragic wardrobe malfunctions without suffering any backlash. In reality, I had no idea (and doubted) if anyone was even reading. Writing was just something I really enjoyed and had forgotten how much so.  Then something funny happened.  People would tell me they really liked something I wrote. They started suggesting I write more. People were reading and paying attention to what I wrote.

About a year ago, I wrote a few posts that were much more personal. They were about me. When I did this, people responded. They were the most viewed posts written up to that point.  I realized that I had more to offer than just making fun of ugly outfits and bad hair do’s. WhyDid has grown into something more than I ever could have imagined and I am so thankful to have people reading what I write and actively participating in what I do. Whether you are a loyal fan, friend, stumbled upon the site after Googling cameltoe, or just someone who hates WhyDid and reads it to poke fun, I want to thank you. I couldn’t have done it without you.

That said, I asked you guys to send in photos of your in your favorite outfits. I received some awesome photos, but have narrowed it down to the top five (with a special bonus entry). Now, it’s up to you to vote on your very favorite! The winner will be announced next week.

1. Paulette from New Zealand

2. Lauren from Santa Monica, California

3. Katie from Orlando, Florida

4. Elizabeth (and dapper gentleman friend) from New York, New York

5. Sonja from Los Angeles, California

And a little something extra for you, ladies….

6. Andrew from Toronto, Canada
