Why Did You Wear That: Bus Stop Blues

By |March 13th, 2012|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

denim shirtWe’ve all been there.  You know, enjoying the nightlife  a little too much and having to face the consequences when the sun rises.  In college we called them “shackers.”  There’s nothing worse than having to evacuate the scene of the crime in last night’s LBD, stilettos, and authentic bed head.  The walk of shame doesn’t have to be so shameful though.  Keeping a pair of sunglasses in your bag and using a little imagination can keep you from looking like Pretty Woman when the morning comes.  Borrowing a simple button down shirt and belt can create a super chic shirtdress in no time flat and no one will be the wiser.  (Own that big hair though, girl).

Setting the Mood: Takes Two To Tango

By |March 12th, 2012|Setting the Mood|

pantone tangerine tangoDrum roll, please… In case you haven’t already heard, this year Pantone named Tangerine Tango the “color of the year.”  And it couldn’t be better timing.  What a perfect color for spring to offset your beautiful (faux) tan.  This shade caught on early from the switch of crimson to coral lips and even little ol’ me was seen sporting tangy tangerine.  The color is so big, in fact, that Sephora has even teamed up with Pantone to create a “crush” worthy collection of the citrus shade (which is available now).  So get your glow on and grab something to brighten up your mood and your wardrobe in this year’s color of the year, Tangerine Tango.

Weekend Playlist: Mad About You

By |March 10th, 2012|Weekend Playlist|

people i want to punch in the faceI try and practice an insane amount of self control.  And for the most part, I remain cool as a cucumber, but every now and then I just want to scream at people, dropkick inanimate objects, and punch the hell out of a pillow.  That is when it is truly necessary to have a playlist full of songs as angry as I am.  (A punching bag never hurt either).

workout playlist

Conveniently, this playlist doubles as a fantastic workout playlist… and everyone knows that looking good is the best revenge.

P.S. I do not in any way, shape, or form, condone violence (except against pillows).  There are far more clever ways to take out your frustrations.

Friday Frocks: Garden Party

By |March 9th, 2012|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

alice in wonderland tea party

I don’t care what that little groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, said.  It feels like spring outside and I’m ready to throw one heck of a garden party.  Should your teacup be full of tea or champagne… it doesn’t really matter.  Find your most floral frock and accessorize with the most gigantic hat your pretty little head can hold up and a pair of chunky heels (so as to avoid sinking into the sod).  Grab your girlfriends for a day of gabbing and grubbing… just don’t fall down the rabbit hole.

garden party dresses1. Nasty Gal Simone Floral Dress, $58 , 2. Elizabeth and James Kingston Dress, $395, 3. Juicy Couture Printed Silk Crepe Dress, $300, 4. Zimmerman Floral Print Cotton Wrap Dress, $300, 5. Joseph Blush Hand Painted Floral Dress, $665, 6. girl. by Band of Outsiders Printed Silk Dress, $440, 7. BCBGeneration Floral Ruffle Sleeve Dress, $88, 8. The List Volume LXVI

By |March 9th, 2012|The List|

bad tan lines

While I’ve sort of been living in a bubble for the past few weeks, watching only reruns of Sex and the City and drinking copious amounts of wine, that hasn’t stopped annoying things from popping up in my otherwise pleasant life.

  1. Having to put on a brave face when all you really want to do is hide under the covers.  For a year.
  2. Shaving.
  3. Forgetting why you stopped wearing a certain pair of shoes and then wearing them only to remember exactly why you stopped wearing them.
  4. Pork chops.
  5. Being completely and utterly blindsided.
  6. Realizing you are out of toilet paper when it’s just a little too late.
  7. Waking up in the middle of the night with the TV still on and hearing the Unsolved Mysteries theme song.
  8. The film on your teeth after eating Greek yogurt.  Feels like the next time you open your mouth it’s going to look like a sheet of Saran Wrap.
  9. Kanye West again showing at Paris Fashion Week.  If New York is good enough for Michael Kors, it should be (more than) good enough for you.
  10. Kony.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some SATC to get back to.
