Beauty Buzz: Girl’s Best Friend

By |January 13th, 2009|Beauty Buzz|

Forget diamonds, Oscar Blandi’s Pronto Dry Shampoo is a girl’s best friend.  I truly swear by this product.  I run in the morning and sometimes I just do NOT have time to re-blow out my  hair at 7:30am. So instead, I use Oscar Blandi’s Pronto Dry Shampoo. Not only does it smell amazing, it gets rid of any greasy looking pieces AND… the best part adds serious volume.  No joke, a girl I work with just commented on what great hair I have (ha! little does she know!).

I have heard of using baby powder, but a) I DETEST the smell of baby powder (I know, really maternal of me), and b) you will end up looking like George Washington in a powdered wig. So just trust me on this one. “You’re welcome” in advance.

Available at Sephora for $19. It is absolutely totally worth it, trust me!

That’s What HE Said….

By |January 12th, 2009|Somethin for the fellas|

I often think that a lot of women are dressing for the wrong reasons. Yes, that’s right. (I mean besides avoiding public nudity- which I see no problem with).

A lot of women seem to be getting dressed for other women. Which is fine, I guess. I would just think that when a woman spends 3.5 hours primping in front of the mirror, it would be to impress, perhaps, a man. Call me crazy, but when I go to work (which consists of all women and a few fantastic gay men- I work in fashion, remember?) I roll in wearing clothes that look good, but are comfortable and still somewhat stylish. I can guarantee that I am NOT looking fresh off the runway though.  This would actually be the perfect time for me to don my open toe booties and latex leggings cause the girls in the office might actually care… but I’ll pass.

However, when I have a hot date with my man, I pull out all the stops- however, this does not include my latest and greatest trendy fashion finds. You see, men don’t notice your “this season” Gucci booties, or your brand new Balenciaga bag. They are looking at you. All of that hoopla is lost on them and they probably think it’s a little ridiculous. If your man does care about your outfit and its fashion expiration date, you may want to take your “gay-dar” in for a tune up.

Don’t believe me? Below are some of the current “trends” (which my girlfriends have already so lovingly commented on) and my very manly guy friends’ responses to them.

WhyDid Wisdom: Karma Police

After my rant last night, you would think that I would still be angry today.  Well, I am a little, but staying in a permanently bad mood would do me no good. It would simply cause stress, which causes wrinkles and you know how I feel about wrinkles.

Why Did You Wear That: The WORST Trends of 2008

By |December 31st, 2008|Why Did You Wear That?|

With the end of 2008 just around the corner, it is time to reflect on the past year and look forward to the year ahead. With this comes time to make New Year’s resolutions to better ourselves and hopefully to resolve from wearing ugly clothing.

Clearly, I have quite a few that I would like to never see again.. ahem.. Leggings as Pants… But, I have asked some of my savvy and stylish girlfriends which trends of 2008 they  hated the most: (more…)

Why Did You Wear That: Dear Beyonce,

By |December 30th, 2008|Celebrity Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

First of all, let me say, you are one of the baddest chicks on the block. You know how to work your curves (and have taught so many women to love their bodies), you have unbelievable confidence, and you can sing your butt off (though I wouldn’t recommend it, cause I think your male fans would be devastated). Plus, I give any woman credit who can lock a man like Jay-Z down.

However, your performance outfit last night on the World Music Awards, was personally offensive. Leggings as pants? Really? And latex ones at that? You have just set me back about 1000 years on this “don’t wear leggings as pants” campaign. Since so many women/girls look up to you, now they are going to think it is, in fact, okay to wear leggings as pants.
