Friday Frocks: Second Skin

By |September 30th, 2011|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

There’s been plenty of buzz in regards to Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman costume for the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises film… and judging by this photo, I can see why.  Anne looks pretty sexual.  The funny thing is, there’s not much skin showing.  The only skin that is showing is that of her leather catsuit.  Throughout time we’ve seen that if you stick a woman in some skin tight leather, you’ve immediately got yourself a bombshell.  There is just something about black leather that can make even the most demure damn suddenly sexy.

Would You Wednesday: The Carpet Matches the Drapes, Matches the Bag, Matches the Shoes…

By |September 28th, 2011|Why Did or Why Don't?|

Here is Kaley Cuoco at the 2011 Emmy Awards.  And while I have no personal beef with Kaley, I do have some with what she’s wearing.  Now, now, before you start flipping out on me… let me preface this by saying I think she is lovely.  As a matter of fact, I think her dress is lovely.  What I have a problem with are her accessories.  I know what you’re saying, “WhyDid- didn’t you just say how much you love red accessories?”  Why yes, yes, I did.  What I did not mention was that I abhor when young ladies feel the need to match their shoes to their handbags… to their manicures.

I mean, look how proud she is.  She is really smitten with herself and her color coordination.  Didn’t we stop doing this… say, around highschool dance time?  Other than black (cause sometimes that’s just hard to avoid), I just can not condone matchy, matchy accessories.  It comes off as juvenile to me.  The curtains may or may not match the drapes, but your bag and shoes sure don’t have to.

By |September 28th, 2011|Smart Is the New Pretty|

We’ve all been through it.  The gut wrenching, heart shattering, hysteria inducing breakup.  And just as we’ve all experienced it– we’ve also all survived it.  So, this week, we will help a sexy starlet get through her very own heartbreak.

I wish both parties the best.  Breaking up is never easy… but we all get through it.

Why Did You Wear That: Are You Red-dy?

By |September 27th, 2011|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

It seems that red is the color of the season.  Whether it be Emmy gowns or accessories, everyone is trying out this hot hue.  If you don’t have a gala to go to and merely painting your nails crimson isn’t doing the trick, why not incorporate red into your everyday wardrobe?  Now, my friends often laugh at me cause I never get rid of any of my clothes… but the joke’s on you this time, ladies.  When I went home to visit my mom, I found these lovely red trousers just hanging out (literally) in the closet.  See, what goes around comes around… or perhaps I was just ahead of my time.  Anyway, red pants are a wonderful way to bring fall’s hottest color to your world.  Now, I’ve seen some stylists suggest the safe route of pairing your pants with a neutral of just grey or black, but I think that’s kind of boring.  I prefer to have a little fun with it.  I mean, you’re already wearing red pants.  (Plus, this is a great way to try out that whole colorblocking thing).

If you’re ready to try this look be sure to keep tone in mind.  If the red is more orange red, opt for a warm tone.  Might I suggest pink?  If the red is a more blue red, go for a cool shade- perhaps purple.  Use your head… or a color wheel and ground your look with black accessories.
