WhyDid or Why Don’t: The Rest Is a Little Scrunchie

By |October 16th, 2013|Why Did or Why Don't?|

Alright, when I said the 90’s revival was something I could get behind, I seem to have forgotten about one trend that probably should stay tucked safely inside that decades’ time capsule.  The scrunchie.  Ah yes, that fabric covered hair tie of school days past.  Be it in your hair or on your wrist, you were nobody without a color coordinated scrunchie.  Despite the upside of the scrunchie (less stress on your tresses), I’m not sure it’s one hair trend that I want to see resurrected.  And isn’t that why they invented these?

As Carrie Bradshaw so adeptly stated in an episode of Sex and the City:

“Okay, but here’s the thing. Here’s my crucial point.  No women who works at W Magazine and lives on Perry Street would be caught dead at a hip downtown restaurant wearing a scrunchie!”

But alas, designers like Vivienne Westwood, Ashish, Missoni, and Marc Jacobs sent looks down the catwalk accessorized with this beauty throwback (you can buy a $95 Missoni one here).  Even “it” girls Fearne Cotton and Cressida Bonas have been seen keeping stray strands at bay with the aid of a scrunchie.  Former “it” girls all over the trend?  Lisa Turtle, all three Tanner girls, and, gasp, even Sarah Jessica Parker herself.

The List Volume XXXVII

By |February 4th, 2011|The List|

I wonder at times if someone has a voodoo doll with my face on it because the hits just keep on coming…

  1. Cantaloupe.  It’s bullshit filler fruit. Why do you insist on putting it in my fruit salad?
  2. Old people (the executive types) who keep trying to use “social media” but have no idea how to log onto Facebook.
  3. Celebrity perfumes. I do not, by any means want to smell like Halle Berry, Jennifer Anniston, or Britney Spears. Remember when actors just used to —act?
  4. The guy on the treadmill next to me boxing with the TV screen. Is that really necessary, sir?
  5. Camping.
  6. The buzz word “curated.”  Enough already.
  7. WHAT THE F*$^ are these?
  8. That big bootied celeb who complained about those (heavily photoshopped) photos in W. I can’t bring myself to say her name.
  9. People who are basically just waiting for you to stop talking so they can talk.
  10. Hosni Mubarak

Would You Wednesday: My Humps

By |November 10th, 2010|Why Did or Why Don't?|

Recently, the lovely Miranda Kerr bared it all for W Magazine showcasing her baby bump. There is no doubt that Miranda is absolutely gorgeous, but is this really how all those hot blooded males wanted to see her nude? Talk about a buzz kill! We all remember the first daring diva to strip down her pregnant body for a magazine:

The also stunning Demi Moore bared her bump for Vanity Fair. So, here’s the dilemma… is showing off our childbearing belly cool or uncouth? I can’t decide whether it’s a beautiful tribute to motherhood or just TMI. What do you think?

Lovely lady lumps.
