Beauty Buzz: Alternative Beauty
There comes a time in everyone’s life where we may need to tighten the the ol’ metaphorial belt. It becomes a tough judgement call between a bottle of Whispering Angel on the rooftop of Soho House or that fancy facial serum. Decisions, decisions… When it comes to my beauty routine, I’m not one who likes to skimp on the essentials, however, when push comes to shove, there are a few luxury items that I’ve been able to swap out for their drugstore counterparts without sacrificing my standards. Below are a few products that I literally use on a daily basis and their pricier companions that I’ve had to trade in for the time being… and truth be told, I may not even switch back when my ship comes in.

We were seated at a nice table along the wall and our waiter came over promptly with the cocktail menu and a smile. It seemed possible that he would break into song and dance at any moment, but thankfully I appreciate overzealousness. We started off with the crab deviled eggs which were absolutely unbelievable. You had me at deviled eggs, but adding the crab really took them over the top. There were a lot of them for just two people, but since they were so delish, we had no trouble polishing them off.
For our main, we shared a porterhouse steak with roasted asparagus and mashed potatoes as sides. The meat was sliced for us upon serving and was cooked to our specification. The meat was juicy and delish and they offered several different sauces, but they really weren’t even necessary. The asparagus was fine, but unremarkable. The mashed potatoes were creamy and pure, not overly seasoned. There was more than enough food for two (which is good news for 




As we cruised down the PCH on our way to spend the afternoon in the sun in Malibu, it occurred to me that packing for a day at the beach is no “day at the beach.”
