Girl Crush: Not News to Us

By |July 21st, 2009|Celebrity Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

Not only does she deliver all the latest in celebrity news on E! every night, she’s a published author, devoted wife, and soon to be reality star.  That equates to a very hectic schedule and a lot of wardrobe changes.

Always polished, always adorable, Giuliana has mastered how to dress her body.  She wears outfits from H&M to Bebe to Robert Rodriguez without skipping a beat.

Real People, Real Style: Doing it Wright

By |July 20th, 2009|Real People Real Style|

jennifer wrightThis stunner  must be good at her job. In this outfit, she is “marketing” all of her best assets.

Name:  Jennifer Wright

Wearing:  Dress by H&M, Bebe shoes

Occupation:   Account Executive at Kaiser Marketing

Hometown:  Wheeling, West Virginia

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and your bag was only big enough for 3 items, what would they be?

  • iPhone, so I can tweet to come save me.
  • Peanut Butter- makes everything taste delicious since I’ll probably have to eat a couple bugs.
  • A book on how to make rafts out of sand so I can float home.

Favorite beauty product: Karen Scott capillary concealer.

Style icon:  I don’t really have one.  I like the way Rachel Bilson dresses…. I’ll guess I’ll embrace that one.
This summer I can’t wait to wear:  My new stripper bikini from a random store in Hollywood.  Yes, I’m serious.  I really love it.

Style tip for all the fashion degenerates:  Don’t try so hard to be “different.”  You just look like everyone else trying to be different… be yourself!

Best Splurge (it was worth every penny):  My T3 Featherweight Hair Dryer Tourmaline Professional Ceramic Ionic Hair Dryer – I swear by it, my hair should be falling out at this point… but it’s still going strong!

Trend you’d like to see die:  MC hammer pants aren’t hot unless you have a 4 foot crotch.

Currently coveting:  The perfect black clutch.  Potentially Tory Burtch’s Reva Clutch? Not 100% though…any ideas?

Fun fact:  I really love the city of Pittsburgh.  It is the most amazing place in the world!  City of Champs!

Biggest personal fashion flop:  WHY DID I think it was okay to wear belly shirts in 2005?

Well, Jen, we’ll forgive you for the crop tops cause it looks like since then, you’ve been doing all the “Wright” things.

Why Did You Wear That: I’m in Love with a Stripper… Shoe.

By |May 20th, 2009|Look for Less, Why Did You Wear That?|

I stumbled upon these sexy summer sandals the other day and they got me to thinking…

pg_156265683_thMiu Miu Platform T-strap Sandal, $635

Um, there’s a reason guys love strip clubs.  Okay, yes, they can drink and watch naked girls shake what their mama’s gave them (or daddy’s bought them) and not be nagged about what they left on the floor, but these “ladies” have mastered the art of exuding sex. They know what they are doing with those ridiculously high heels.  Guys love legs. They always have. It’s human nature. Super duper high (supa dupa fly- sorry, Missy Elliot is currently playing) heels can make even the stubbiest little legs look longer and more appealing.

Maybe we could take a little note from these lap dancing ladies. I mean, how many of you have already taken a pole dancing “exercise” class?  So if you’d rather your man steer clear of Scores and hang with you, then you’d better give him a good reason. A girlfriend once asked me for some fashion advice when she knew she was going to see her very recent ex at a birthday party. I simply told her to look as close to a stripper without actually looking like a stripper. It is a very fine line that you do NOT want to cross, but when done correctly, is incredibly effective (kind of like the “bend and snap”- Legally Blonde, duh).

While those Miu Miu’s are heaven on heels, I’m not bank rolling right now and these platforms from Bebe are a close replacement. Ironic that “Candy” from Sapphire’s is probably in more of a financial position to purchase expensive heels. Sigh…

Why Did You Wear That: See Ya Later, 2008!

By |December 6th, 2008|Why Did You Wear That?|

So, it is now December. I can hardly believe it. This year has flown by!

Anyway, this means that you are starting (or if you’re an overachiever, have already started/finished) planning for your New Year’s Eve soiree. Obviously, my favorite part of any holiday, or party, or basically any occassion to dress up, is getting totally decked out. So whether you’ll be in NYC, South Beach, or jet-setting off to St. Bart’s, I’ve come up with some festive dress ideas for your very special evening. Careful with the champagne…

NEW YORK CITY

Oh, New York. I have spent a few New Year’s here, myself.  While New Yorkers tend to be elegantly understated, it is still fun to sparkle and stand out. (Trust me, I was once the only one in the room in a cocktail dress, loved it). Go with a little bit of subtle glam and comfortable (but still cute) shoes because after all, this is the city that never sleeps!

Why Did You Wear That: Give me… Givenchy!

By |December 2nd, 2008|Look for Less, Why Did You Wear That?|

Givenchy’s Fall 2008 runway show was enough to make the biggest wallflower want to get up on a table and break a guitar. It was chocked full of leather, chains, lace, and edge.  The overall theme was rocker chic. Below are three of my favorite looks and how you can get them.

A look from Givenchy’s Fall 2008 runway show. This look is sexy yet tough.

Blouse from Forever21, $22.80

Blank shiny PANT at Urban Outfitters, $68

(My favorite part about these is that they are actual PANTS- with pockets and fly!)

Steve Madden, Clubbin Bootie, $129.95
