Believe it or not some people don’t like to wear sequin covered disco ball-esque dresses. I know. I could hardly wrap my head around it either. I’m somewhat of a magpie and I will use any and all excuses to deck myself, my home, my dog out in anything shiny. Whether it be a shimmering chandelier or sparkly mini, I’m on it. However, in the off chance that you don’t love a sparkly get up as much as me (or the rest of the world), there are some other options to bring a little bling to your standard LBD. It can be as subtle as a glittery manicure or as bold as bejeweled headband. Adding just a hint of shine will take you from wet blanket to woohoo!

Why Did You Wear That: Unseasonably Short

Who says shorts are for summertime only? There’s a reason they make shorts in winter fabrics like tweed, velvet, and leather. They are meant to be worn out in the arctic blast. Why should denim and cotton have all the fun? They shouldn’t. You’ve worked long and hard on those lanky legs. Might as well show them off… all year long. Wear your winter weight shorts with opaque or patterned tights, a cozy cashmere turtleneck, and tall boots to take this look from beachside to fireside. It sorta seems like life went ahead and decided to cram as much as possible into the last few months of the year. Sort of like it forgot and then was like, “Oh crap! We gotta do all this.” So, that keeps ladies like you and me pretty busy. In between all of the end of year festivities, we still need to find time to run those never ending errands. They sure don’t take a holiday, do they? This is where that whole “fashion vs function” argument comes into play. Is it ever possible to be both? Friday Frocks: Lady in Red

Now that it is officially December, let the holiday melee begin. Not only do you have to find everyone on your holiday shopping list the perfect gift, you’re going to have to show up to give it to them. And well, that’s probably going to require your attendance at many a fab holiday soiree. So, why not start with one of the most obvious choices? The Little Red Dress. Now, let’s get one thing straight. Every couple of seasons or so, someone tries to dub another color the “New Little Black Dress.” Get real. There is no such thing as the “New Little Black Dress.” It’ll never happen. The Little Black Dress is like the Queen of England- not going anywhere. HOWEVER, during this magical month, it is fun to swap out basic black for a color more festive… like Santa’s famous red suit. (He wears black the rest of the year, FYI). Also, you dont have to go for the oh so obvious fire engine red. Try a deeper shade or perhaps even a pattern.

Why Did You Wear That: Orange You Glad

Normally I would never mix bright orange with anything black so as to avoid looking like a Halloween reject… Not to mention my highschool colors were actually black and orange (Go Cadets!). However, I really liked the way this orange- or as I like to call it persimmon- looked with the black acid wash of these jeans and was only accented by adding bold gold accessories.
