Friday Frocks: Take the Plunge

By |November 11th, 2011|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

Alright, so the chances of taking a swan dive into clear blue waters at this time of year are probably slim to none for most of us… but that doesn’t mean you can’t take the plunge this fall.  Step away from the high dive and step over to your closet.  A deep v neckline is one heck of a way to make an entrance into any holiday party.  Just don’t forget your double sided tape!

Why Did You Wear That: Sweater Legs

By |November 8th, 2011|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

There’s no more denying it.  Fall is here.  Sayonara Indian Summer.  It’s time to stash your denim cut offs and strappy stilettos and bring your cozy cashmere and babe worthy boots to the front of the closet.  It’s no secret how I feel about wearing leggings as pants, but there’s nothing more comfortable than slipping into a knit tunic and leggings.  My favorite kind of leggings are those of the sweater type.  You may not have ever heard of such a thing, but they’re out there… and they are somewhat life changing.   Why should your torso have all the fun?

An oversized knit hat and tie dyed scarf are two accessories that bring this look full circle.  Also, What better reminder than a symbol of your favorite summer vacation hotspot?  This bracelet courtesy of Marina Fehr, takes me back to many warm summer nights spent at Surf Lodge and Sunset Beach.  So, even when the air gets chilly, at least I’ll remember that summer is only a couple seasons away.  Here’s to wishful thinking.

We all have a go to LBD, but have you ever thought about swapping it out for a LND (little navy dress)?  The ladies of the Navy (or the WAVES) certainly do look snazzy in the crisp color. Navy looks great with metallics, nudes, and grey and despite what you may think… Navy can even be paired with black (as shown in dress #9).

Girl Crush: Go Play a Video Game

By |November 2nd, 2011|Celebrity Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

In case you haven’t already been sucked in by her first single, Video Games, this sultry songstress is Lana del Rey.  Though there is much speculation as to whether she is a product of her management and as to where exactly she came from (she was formerly known as Lizzy Grant)- one thing is for sure: girlfriend can sing.  Her sound is like nothing else out there and her voice is utterly intoxicating.  As if her vocal chops aren’t enough, she is strikingly gorgeous with doe eyes and voluptuous lips (also much speculation on those).  Her self described style is “Gangster Nancy Sinatra.”  She sports big hair and big accessories– and in this case, bigger is definitely better.

 1. American Apparel 3D Flower Mesh Jumper, $88, 2. Chaser American Flag Tee, $49, 3. GirlProps Two Finger Nugget Ring, $9.99, 4. Forever21 Twisted Hoop Earrings, $1.50, 5. Why Did You Wear That: Putting on the Glitz

By |November 1st, 2011|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

You know how much I love sequin shorts, but fall calls for something a little warmer… yet just as sparkly.  Lucky, lucky me (and you) they have these things called sequin leggings.  While leggings are still not pants and these particular leggings aren’t for everyday wear, these babies are pretty fantastic and sure to turn a few (hundred) heads.  I like this look as an alternative to the “woman wearing a tux” thing.  It’s also a great option for a slightly less dressy than cocktail attire, but definitely more fancy than denim.  With all the upcoming holiday parties and festivities, who doesn’t need another alternative to the LBD?

Little details like a beautiful bangle and bow tie headband complete this party approved look.   Pile hair atop your head in a top notch top knot and slick on some shiny red lipstick.  You’ll be ready to party in no time flat.  Want to recreate this look for your next social gathering?

1. American Apparel Sleeveless Crepe de Chine Button Up, $45, 2. Plan B Sequin Leggings, $93, 3. Forever21 Glossy Bow Headband, $3.80, 4. Kenneth Jay Lane Giraffe Cover Watch, $82.99, 5. Stuart Weitzman Great Neck Suede Bootie, $425

Get your shine on.
