Friday Frocks: Going Green

I’m not typically someone who gets all decked out in green for St. Patrick’s Day. It seems a bit trite and if you try pinching me because I don’t abide, I may very well punch you. You’ve probably heard of the “evil eye” referenced in popular culture, but did you realize it dates back over five thousand years? From Turkey to Greece to Italy and even Ethiopia, it is one of the most widely spread superstitions.

You have also probably seen people wearing jewelry with an eye and wondered, “What’s that all about?” Well, you should certainly know what something means before you go prancing all over town wearing it, right? I mean, what if it meant “I’m a hooker”? Could lead to a lot of awkward conversations, no?

It is said that the “evil eye” is a look given to a person and depending on which culture you reference, the look could inflict bad luck, disease, or even death. That is why some people wear an eye as a talisman to ward off and protect against the evil eye.

Why Did You Wear That: Bus Stop Blues

We’ve all been there. You know, enjoying the nightlife a little too much and having to face the consequences when the sun rises. In college we called them “shackers.” There’s nothing worse than having to evacuate the scene of the crime in last night’s LBD, stilettos, and authentic bed head. The walk of shame doesn’t have to be so shameful though. Keeping a pair of sunglasses in your bag and using a little imagination can keep you from looking like Pretty Woman when the morning comes. Borrowing a simple button down shirt and belt can create a super chic shirtdress in no time flat and no one will be the wiser. (Own that big hair though, girl).

I don’t care what that little groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, said. It feels like spring outside and I’m ready to throw one heck of a garden party.
