Why Did You Eat That: Xino

So, last week our friends invited us to join them for dinner at Xino located inside of Santa Monica Place. I had yet to check out the newest shopping center in Santa Monica (I know… lame) so, I was pretty excited. Now, let’s just go ahead and be clear that the dining in this “mall” is not that of the typical suburban shopping center. Santa Monica went all out with their fine dining.

Xino is located on the top floor of the shopping center along with several other restaurants. It has both an indoor section which is decorated with modern furniture and art as well as a large outdoor section. We were seated outside in our own personal “cabana.” It was a bit chilly, so the heat lamps were cranking and we all huddled for some body heat.

Honestly, I don’t have a whole lot to say about this place. The portions are served family style and it is Asian fusion… aka it was a poor man’s Philippe. Not a bad choice for mall food though. Order the lettuce wraps and steer clear of the shrimp.

Monday Mashup: Battle of the Blondes

So, I was scrolling through photos from last night’s red carpet arrivals for the American Music Awards and I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the stunning Taylor Swift. She traded in her trademark ringlets for a very sleek, very sexy blowout with thick bangs (I’m calling a trend here, folks!). I felt like just giving up after seeing her. She’s so beautiful that she could have just as easily been a model. Sigh…

After I recovered, I continued perusing the photos from last night and stopped yet again, when I saw the lovely Avril Lavigne. I’m not sure what this little lady’s been up to lately other than some tabloid snippets here and there about her dating Brody Jenner, but homegirl looks great! The craziest part is that she eerily resembles Miss Swift. I don’t know whether Avril should be flattered or Taylor should be insulted. Or maybe they should just smack five and model walk away. I can’t decide. Life’s hard.

I get that Taylor has a solid 8 inches of height on Avril, but come on, tell me the resemblance isn’t a little crazy. Both are gorgeous blondes with perfect porcelain skin… not to mention they are both embracing some serious graphic design with their dresses.

Woops… I guess that’s the sign of a good weekend. Here’s this week’s top five best dressed ladies off duty… meaning, not a stylist in sight.

Here’s Charlize Theron doing some shopping in NYC, looking totally cute and casual.
Ashlee Simpson Wentz is one hot mama. Sporting a slouchy sweater, leather leggings, and some vintage Chanel earrings, you’d never know she’s popped out a little one.
Kirsten Dunst looks effortlessly chic in her shades, shift, and sweater in Los Angeles.
Megan Fox has paired masculine and feminine with ease. Men’s trousers have never looked so sexy.
Rumer Willis shows you how flats are supposed to be done. She looks very Audrey Hepburn in this simple yet chic outfit.

Friday Frocks: Heavy Metal

Holiday season is upon us. After we finish gorging ourselves on turkey and pie during Thanksgiving, it’s full speed ahead to Hannukah, Christmas, Holiday parties, and New Years. Why Did You Wear That: Christina Aguilera

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love Christina Aguilera. I have loved that woman since the moment she popped out of her genie bottle back in 1999! I was Team Christina through and through. She could do no wrong in my book. Not even when she decided to get a bit “dirrty.”

So, it pains me more than you can imagine to have to ask, “What the HELL happened to her?” I know that Xtina has been going through some rough times in her personal life, but didn’t she get the memo? Looking GOOD is the best revenge. And while her love life may be sucking, her career is still on fi-yah. She is set to star in Burlesque and she just got her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Needless to say, that’s a lot of red carpet appearances. Well, lately, she looks like my dog has been styling her… with his tongue (although that’s an insult to my dog).

How can such a pretty girl let herself look like this? Did Jordan Bratman take all the mirrors with him in the split?

The premiere of Burlesque should have been her time to shine…. however, she looks like a big green head of lettuce. Sad lettuce. She would have been better off pulling from the costume department like Cher.
