Gift Guide: Jay-Z Approved, Gifts with No Budget

By |December 20th, 2014|Gift Guide|

jay z beyonceYou know the lyrics (and if you don’t, you should), “In the Ferrari or Jaguar, switchin’ four lanes with the top down screamin’ out, ‘money ain’t a thang.”  Perhaps you’re not Jay-Z, but you did get a particularly large bonus this year and you have a very deserving individual on your gift list.  Bless you.  If pinching pennies is not something you must do and budgeting is a word that is reserved strictly for the government, I’ve got a heap of indulgent gifts for the most discerning recipients.  And if you’re feeling particularly generous, I’ll happily accept any of the below suggestions.  It is far better to give than receive, after all.

Gift Guide: Who’s Your Daddy?

By |June 11th, 2014|Gift Guide|

dadWe spend an awful lot of time shopping for ourselves and perusing available goods online- something I like to refer to as “market research.”  We know exactly when the next Kenzo collection drops down to the date and we can recite each color by name that the Balenciaga Velo is available in.  And while most dads are just thankful to be thought of (mom’s the one who always gets all the credit, afterall), remember to choose wisely because he knows exactly how much you spent on those engraved beer steins and he thinks it’s absolutely ridiculous.  And no, he doesn’t want another f&^#ing tie.

Not only is Father’s Day a great day to indulge dad in something that he’s been eyeing at Home Depot, it’s also an opportune time to replace his ratty socks, holey undershirts (which I take for myself), and embarrassing choices in footwear.  I may very well be purchasing the polar bear trunks from Vilebrequin for Dick, seeing as I have a childhood memory of his Speedo always going missing and my mom not having the slightest clue where it might have gone.  Must be like disappearing socks in the dryer.  Whether pops is sporty, handy, or a classic Don Draper, now’s the time to show your appreciation for those braces and his breadwinning.

WhyDid’s Gift Guide: Quick Fix

By |December 24th, 2010|Gift Guide|

Um, whoops. Forgot your sister? Maybe your cousin who you haven’t seen in a while? How the hell did you let that slip your mind? You really suck at this whole “Christmas” thing, huh? Luckily, I’m here (again) to save the day. Here’s a few last minute/quick fixes for your holiday mishaps.

Scratch off lottery tickets. Everyone’s a winner as far as I’m concerned. Just remind Uncle Tom that you did buy him that ticket if he just so happens to strike it rich.

A memory. Find a photo of a special moment in time. Print it at the nearest Kinko’s and place it in a frame. Don’t have any photos off hand? Steal a great one from Facebook. I knew it would come in handy for something other than stalking at some point!

Cheers! You can probably still pop into a liquor store and pick up a delightful spirit. Pick something special that you wouldn’t use for Wednesday night “pre-gaming.”

Just relax. Everything’s going to be fine… as soon as you hit up the closest drugstore and pick up all the essentials for a luxurious at home spa pedicure.

Half baked. Okay, this may not be the most original idea on the planet, but desperate times call for desperate measures… and by measures, I mean, get out your measuring cup. Try my all time favorite recipe.

Get crafty. If you have some smidgeon of artistic ability, making something is a great option. Try these cinnamon bird ornaments from Martha Stewart.

and you’re welcome.
