Why Did You Wear That: Fake It Til You Make It

By |November 7th, 2012|Why Did You Wear That?|

michael kors runwayTwo of this fall’s hottest trends are fur and leather.  Just about any store you walk into or any online shop you peruse will have a plethora of fuzzy and sleek options for your winter wardrobe.  And as chic as some of these styles may be, perhaps you are completely appalled by the thought of wearing the skin of another to  advance your fashion forward image.  Have no fear, you can still be very much on trend while ensuring that all of God’s creatures keep their coats.

Fortunately, many designers and brands are well aware of the reluctance of consumers to purchase pelts and have come up with some equally stylish faux and vegan options.  (Bonus– these faux options also happen to be a whole heck of a lot cheaper).  So, in honor of Joanna Krupa (who is fast becoming a fan favorite for all the Housewives), here are ten fantastically faux fall fashions:

I realized after making my Fall Must Have list, that I left off a key player.  While sitting barside at Bill’s Bar & Burger (R.I.P. Hog Pit), a male friend was discussing a date from last week. He said it went great and it wasn’t because she was a Harvard grad or had great legs.  The first thing that came out of his mouth was, “She was wearing fur!” Yeah, I know, bizarre. However, my other male companion was equally enthusiastic about this statement. Hm..? Did her fur make him want to reach out and give her a bear hug or did she just look incredibly chic? Probably both.

I, myself, own a beautiful vintage mink fur (sorry, PETA, better than a coyote hat, right?). Here are a couple of options so you can give your next date some warm fuzzy feelings.

Why Did You Wear That: Warm, Fuzzy Feelings.

By |November 13th, 2009|Somethin for the fellas, Why Did You Wear That?|

I was actually in the middle of writing a completely different blog, when I stumbled upon something that I knew I MUST share. After googling for fur earmuffs, I stumbled upon a little gem of a website called Fur Hat World. (I will probably receive a phone call from PETA after this…) I will now share with you some of my favorite finds from said website. You are very, very, VERY, welcome in advance.

This is what happened to the coyote who ate Jessica Simpson’s maltipoo, Daisy.

There were just SO MANY to choose from that I could only select a few of my favorites, but you could probably go ahead and waste a good hour to an hour and a half perusing all of the amazing choices of fur headgear.  Enjoy.
