Why Did You Wear That: Cat’s Out of the Bag

By |August 5th, 2012|Celebrity Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

vanessa hudgens leopard shortsRemember last week, when some lovely ladies schooled us in how to do leopard right?  Well, seems Vanessa Hudgens isn’t reading WhyDid.  What?!?!  Had she caught up on her reading, she surely wouldn’t have left the house– let alone allowed the paparazzi to catch her– wearing this little get up.  Now, I’m not trying to be catty (yes, pun intended) and typically I think V Hudge is a total glamour puss, but this is just  cat-astrophic (I’ll be here all week).  The shorts aren’t the most flattering shape for her figure, the boots only shorten her stems, and that cape (?) is just unnecessary.  Her hair looks great though.

Here kitty, kitty…

Why Did You Wear That: Call of the Wild

By |July 29th, 2012|Celebrity Style, Look for Less, Why Did You Wear That?|

You know, leopard print tends to get a bit of a bad rap… and I guess I can see why.  When used in excess, it can leave a lady looking more like a tramp.  However, leopard doesn’t have to be all hookers and Housewives.  It also doesn’t need to be condoned to only the evening prowl.  Leopard is kind of a new neutral and when paired with the right pieces, it can actually look down right feminine.  Don’t believe me?  Here are three different ladies showing us three different ways to get a little catty in the right way:

Friday Frocks: Born To Be Wild

By |January 27th, 2012|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

leopardI look forward to Friday for oh so many reasons and I get the feeling I’m not alone.  One of those reasons is the prospect of letting my hair down, slipping out of something standard, and perhaps getting a little bit wild.  What better way to let people know you are serious about having fun than sporting a little something borrowed from our friends in the animal kingdom?

In case you haven’t noticed, leopard and animal prints aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.  In my opinion, leopard print is a new neutral.  If you tire of the standard “as seen in nature” prints, opt for a recolored print.

1. Torn by Ronny Kobo Jill Lace Leopard Combo Dress, $232, 2. Vix Mali Snake Print Jersey Mini Dress, $125, 3. Rachel Pally Peg Dress, $109.99, 4. Why Did You Wear That: Cougar Town

After spending the morning discussing menopausal women, I figured it was only right to discuss another one of fall’s trends. Oh that’s right, I’m talking about animal print. Whichever feline you happen to prefer (cougar, leopard, cheetah), it just isn’t going anywhere, folks. Another season, another runway packed full of the spotted puss. Animal print is here to stay. So whether you decide to deck yourself or just add a bit of fur, you’re sure to look fierce in the print of the season.

That’s What HE Said….

By |January 12th, 2009|Somethin for the fellas|

I often think that a lot of women are dressing for the wrong reasons. Yes, that’s right. (I mean besides avoiding public nudity- which I see no problem with).

A lot of women seem to be getting dressed for other women. Which is fine, I guess. I would just think that when a woman spends 3.5 hours primping in front of the mirror, it would be to impress, perhaps, a man. Call me crazy, but when I go to work (which consists of all women and a few fantastic gay men- I work in fashion, remember?) I roll in wearing clothes that look good, but are comfortable and still somewhat stylish. I can guarantee that I am NOT looking fresh off the runway though.  This would actually be the perfect time for me to don my open toe booties and latex leggings cause the girls in the office might actually care… but I’ll pass.

However, when I have a hot date with my man, I pull out all the stops- however, this does not include my latest and greatest trendy fashion finds. You see, men don’t notice your “this season” Gucci booties, or your brand new Balenciaga bag. They are looking at you. All of that hoopla is lost on them and they probably think it’s a little ridiculous. If your man does care about your outfit and its fashion expiration date, you may want to take your “gay-dar” in for a tune up.

Don’t believe me? Below are some of the current “trends” (which my girlfriends have already so lovingly commented on) and my very manly guy friends’ responses to them.
