Friday Frocks: Fit for a Princess

By |January 20th, 2012|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

princess tiaraPerhaps none of us will ever marry a “real” prince and become “real” life princesses like Kate, but there’s no reason we shouldn’t dress and feel like a princess.  Especially on say, I don’t know, your birthday?  Every princess needs a gown to celebrate her special day.  That’s really one of our only obligations.  Something special.  Something shimmery.  Something so jaw droppingly gorgeous you couldn’t help but get noticed.  Now, that’s what I call a birthday dress.  This edition of Friday Frocks is not what one might call “budget friendly,” but it sure is pretty.  A girl can dream, right?

The List Volume 8 Billion

By |August 5th, 2011|The List|

Alright, it probably isn’t eight billion, but I’ve written so many lists, I’ve lost count, so just go with it.  It’s been a while, but I’ve returned to the original “list” format… and don’t worry, you’re not on it.

  1. People who talk to me on airplanes.  We’re seatmates, not friends.
  2. Runaway peacocks.
  3. Backhanded compliments.
  4. Bailey’s non-alcoholic creamer. What’s the point?
  5. Kelly Osbourne’s rant on Christina Aguilera and Kate Middelton.  Who decided this girl is relevant? Not only is she crass, but she’s completely out of touch with reality.
  6. Cheap disposable razors.  Probably better off shaving with shards of glass.
  7. Empty refrigerators.  If there’s not even enough to make a sandwich, it’s time to hit the supermarket.
  8. Kool-Aid colored hair.
  9. Wearing headphones while driving. Is that even legal?
  10. People who can’t park in the confines of a parking space. These are the same people who leave their carts in the parking lot.

Ah, now don’t you feel better?

Why Did You Wear That: White Hot

By |January 25th, 2011|Celebrity Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

The weather outside is frightful (unless you live in Los Angeles), but there’s no need to stay curled up inside like a hermit or flip your shit like the abominable snowman.  Take a note from some very stylish celebs.  Wearing white after Labor Day is no longer a fashion faux pas.  Some of the sexiest starlets have been sporting winter white on all of the hottest red carpets.

So, before you reserve yourself to alpaca and shearling for the rest of the winter months, why not try out this winter’s most fiercely feminine color?  Be sure to pick something in a heavier (winter weight) fabric.  If you live somewhere especially frigid, look for long sleeves and pair your look with opaque or patterned tights.  For footwear? Add a dash of color or something shiny!

Top (L to R): Alexander Wang Ribbed Tank Dress, $545, Halston Heritage Short Dress, $490, Milly Sleeveless Jewel Neck Dress, $355, Reiss Nanette Zip Frill Dress, $310

Bottom (L to R): Indah Macrame Back Mini Dress, $154, Acne Dolphin Draped Silk Wrap Dress, $660, Lauren by Ralph Lauren Carrie Boatneck Dress, $129, Religion 3/4 Length Dress, $98

Frosty!
