If you’re anything like me, you’ve been salivating over the opportunity to channel your inner chandelier this New Year’s Eve. If you’re not like me, well, then we covered you last week with the “anti-sparkle dress.” New Year’s Eve is your time to shine. Both literally and figuratively. I think there are two completely appropriate times (and a free hall passes) to wear as much glimmery, shimmery, I’m a disco ball garb as you damn well please. One is your birthday and the other is obviously New Year’s Eve. Friday Frocks: Lady in Red

Now that it is officially December, let the holiday melee begin. Not only do you have to find everyone on your holiday shopping list the perfect gift, you’re going to have to show up to give it to them. And well, that’s probably going to require your attendance at many a fab holiday soiree. So, why not start with one of the most obvious choices? The Little Red Dress. Now, let’s get one thing straight. Every couple of seasons or so, someone tries to dub another color the “New Little Black Dress.” Get real. There is no such thing as the “New Little Black Dress.” It’ll never happen. The Little Black Dress is like the Queen of England- not going anywhere. HOWEVER, during this magical month, it is fun to swap out basic black for a color more festive… like Santa’s famous red suit. (He wears black the rest of the year, FYI). Also, you dont have to go for the oh so obvious fire engine red. Try a deeper shade or perhaps even a pattern.

Why Did You Wear That: Being Angela Bower

It’s no secret how I feel about the current state of TV programming. Reality TV shows full of Kardashians and overpaid, undereducated wannabes. Why can’t we can some quality TV back? Remember TGIF? Those were the days. One of my absolute favorite TV shows is Who’s The Boss? I fall asleep watching that and Golden Girls. Seeing as I spend so much time with Angela and co., I started to notice that Angela had some pretty serious style.

I know, you’re thinking Sam (Alyssa Milano) was the hottie on Who’s the Boss? but let’s not sell Angela short. While you may only think of her as an uptight ad agency executive (remember when it was sexy for women to be smart?), Angela is the poster child of sportswear. Silk blouses, oversized blazers, pops of color, jumpsuits, and turtleneck tunics are a just a few of Angela’s style staples. Add some big hair and those large plastic frames and you too, could be running Wallace and McQuade.
