Gift Guide: Techsessories, Gifts for the Tech Obsessed

By |December 11th, 2014|Gift Guide|

tech holiday gift guide
I bet you’re reading this from your phone… or tablet… or laptop.  We are a society that is totally tech obsessed and while many of us could and should do a digital detox, the chances of that happening are less likely than me retiring my crop tops any time before I turn forty.  I, myself, basically work from my phone, iPad, or MacBook and most of the time I’ve got at least two of these items with me.  Fortunately and unfortunately, I can work from just about anywhere there’s wifi and this seems to be an ever growing trend.  When I’m taking pictures of my perfect bowl of ramen at Momfuku, I’m working.  When I’m switching between ten Instagram accounts, I’m clocking those hours.  Even posting on Facebook adds to my paycheck.  Having said that, I’ve become a bit of an expert on all things that make working on the fly a little bit easier and a lot more stylish.

And in the gift guide, I’ve rounded up some fashionable gadgets for the tech gal on the go.

Gift Guide: My Kinda Girl

By |December 11th, 2013|Gift Guide|

paper dollTraditionally, I’ve divided up my gift guides by price point, but I decided to shake things up this year by organizing by personality.  Now, there is no way on Earth anyone could possibly classify all women into five categories- unless that person was looking to face several million pissed off estrogen fueled females.  However, I’ve chosen five pretty broad categories that should be fairly helpful when shopping for your friends, sisters, mothers, and significant others.  Whether she loves all things shiny or her fingers can’t be pried from her smartphone, there’s something here for just about any woman.  And since I’ve taken all of the grunt work out of your holiday shopping (you’re welcome), all you’ve got to do is figure out what kind of gal you’re shopping for.  (If you can’t do that, I can’t be held accountable- but a helpful hint?  We’ve all probably got a little bit of each one inside of us).

Setting the Mood: Baby, There’s a Shark in the Water

By |August 13th, 2012|Setting the Mood|

skarksSo apparently it’s everyone’s (except for me) favorite week.  What week is that you may ask?  Oh, just Shark Week.  Why sharks are so intriguing to the general population, I will never completely understand.  I don’t see why we don’t have something like “Koala Bear Week” instead.  Full disclosure:  I have no interest in sharks.  They scare me  and you aren’t going to find me in a shark cage anytime this century.  I’m not even going to lie- just looking up these pictures of sharks made me nervous.  But, I aim to please so strap on your scuba tank, churn up the chum, and keep your eyes peeled for Jaws… ’cause I’m getting involved in Shark Week the only way I know how: with some “shark-cessories.”  (I just made that up).

shark jewelry1. Charles Albert Megalodon Shark Tooth Pendant Necklace, $315, 2. Dezso by Sara Beltran Shark Tooth and Garnet Stud Earrings, $850, 3. Vanessa Mooney Charm & Chain Tooth Bracelet, $48.50, 4. Paul Smith iPhone 4 Case, $125, 5. Heather Hawkins Double Layer Shark Tooth Necklace, $154

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go take a Xanax.

Gift Guide: Le Geek C’est Chic

By |November 30th, 2011|Gift Guide|

If you can’t beat em… join em.  Since, we’re clearly overly socialized and technology is only going to get more intense from here, might as well look good while we’re surfing the web/catching up on reading/chatting with friends/etc.  You know how I know tech is a big deal?  Go to one of your favorite fashion shopping sites… I’m willing to bet they now have a tab under accessories that says, “Tech Accessories.”  I would, however, like to point out that there are few and far between (if any) accessories for the Blackberry.  Coincidence?  … Anyway, a gift that is certain to delight even your most tech savvy friends is something to outfit her favorite electronic device.  Since it will probably spend more time on the table than hidden in the depths of her bag, it’s going to need to look good too.

1. Jagger Edge The Montana Studded iPhone Case, $99, 2. Jimmy Choo Glitter iPad Case, $495, 3. Juicy Couture Synched to the Stars Ear Buds, $47, 4. Henri Bendel Snake iPhone Cover, $68, 5. Marc by Marc Jacobs Stacked Heart USB, $42, 6. Diane von Furstenberg Heart Print Ear Buds, $25, 7. Jagger Edge Studded iPad Case, $198, 8. Balenciaga Arena Classic Screen, $565, 9. Echo Cheetah Touch Gloves $38
