Why Did You Wear That: Hats What’s Up.

By |May 21st, 2013|Why Did You Wear That?|

You have invested a small fortune in your skin and there’s no need to cancel that all out by roasting in the sun like a California raisin.  Sure, sunblock and sunglasses help protect against a gnarly sunburn, but why not come with the wrinkle fighting trifecta by adding a huge hat?  I don’t mean like J. Lo or Kim Kardashian, heavens no.  There are ways to pull off a humongous hat without looking like a pretentious poser and this is one of those times that it’s completely fine to throw a little shade.  Now, don’t be mistaken.  A hat doesn’t make SPF obsolete, but does help deflect those harmful UVA/UVB rays decreasing your chance for skin cancer and premature aging. Well there are many resources which will give you additional info about skin cancer. In case of any skin issue yuo should have idea about good skin care or skin care cancer specialist. You can click for more info about best skin care doctor.   Hides those unruly, humidified hairs of yours.  Bless all of you with straight tresses, but I’m not in that camp, so look for me in a big ol’ sunhat by the beach.

Setting the Mood: Breaking Spring

By |April 1st, 2013|Setting the Mood|

swimwear beach inspirationRecently, people just kept throwing out the term, “spring break” and not in reference to the questionable Disney Channel graduates’ movie.  While, spring break doesn’t mean much to me anymore, I did partake in several years of beachside debauchery without ever returning home with a tramp stamp or body piercing.  I don’t know about you, but I call that success.   Despite your stance on spring break, one must realize it is kind of a rite of passage wherein young people discover spring flings, alcohol by the yard, and the importance of chlorine in public swimming pools.  So whether spring break is just a distant memory or something you still have yet to indulge in, get yourself in the mood with bright bikinis, shiny sunglasses, and shady headwear.

Setting the Mood: Ski Bunny

By |January 22nd, 2013|Setting the Mood|

sundance ski styleHere’s one for ya: I’ve never been skiing… or snowboarding.  Ever. I am, however, pretty sweet on a pair of ice skates.  But apparently winter sports are a “thing.”  Physical exertion in below freezing temperatures with the risk of bodily injury seems to get some people’s adrenaline going.  I’m not here to judge, but if you’re looking for me, it won’t be on the bunny slopes.  Instead you’ll find me in the lodge sipping a hot toddy getting a foot rub from that cute ski instructor, Steve.  Perhaps that’s why some folks put themselves through all of the swooshing and sliding down the side of a mountain: for the afterparty.  We all know afterparties are where it’s at.  Why else do you think they came up with the name, “apres ski?”  And while I’ve already cut to the chase and am three hot chocolates in, you’re going to need to slip into something cozy chic for your fireside recovery.  The look is cabin casual.

To be clear, leggings are still not pants.  Not even on the side of a mountain.

Why Did You Wear That: Drab to Fab

By |December 9th, 2011|Why Did You Wear That?|

Believe it or not some people don’t like to wear sequin covered disco ball-esque dresses.  I know.  I could hardly wrap my head around it either.  I’m somewhat of a magpie and I will use any and all excuses to deck myself, my home, my dog out in anything shiny.  Whether it be a shimmering chandelier or sparkly mini, I’m on it.  However, in the off chance that you don’t love a sparkly get up as much as me (or the rest of the world), there are some other options to bring a little bling to your standard LBD.  It can be as subtle as a glittery manicure or as bold as bejeweled headband.  Adding just a hint of shine will take you from wet blanket to woohoo!

1.  Eugenia Kim Serena Headband, $74.99, 2. Bobbi Brown Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow, $22, 3. Black Halo Donna Halter Mini Dress, $330, 4. Fragments for Neiman Marcus Multi Crystal Bracelet, $275, 5. J. Crew Classic Pave Link Bracelet, $118, 6. Essie Nail Polish (Set in Stones), $8, 7. Deborah Lippmann Glitter Nail Polish (Boom Boom Pow), $20, 8. Jimmy Choo Glitter Cap Toe Ballerina Flats, $345, 9. J. Crew Darby Glitter Loafers, $175, 10. Loeffler Randall Zuri Pumps, $359.99, 11. B Brian Atwood Liese Metallic Peep Toe Ankle Boots, $350, 12.  Kenneth Jay Lane Large Crystal Ring, $88, 13. Kate Spade All Wrapped Up Pave Ring, $148, 14. See by Chloe Cherry Feather Mini Cross Body Bag, $495, 15. Top Shop Gold Sequin Animal Cross Body Bag, $50, 16.  Erickson Beamon Smoke and Mirrors Earrings, $315, 17. Oscar de la Renta Beaded Tassel Earrings, $440

And because I must:  I do not condone wearing more than… let’s see three of these items at once.  Let’s have fun without shooting anyone’s eye out.

Why Did You Wear That: Baby, it’s cold outside.

By |December 2nd, 2008|Why Did You Wear That?|

An ode to all my New York City and Northern honeys. I woke up to 27 degrees this morning. I was half tempted to call in sick so that I didn’t have to leave my cozy heated apartment (and cuddly puppy dog). But then again… I’m half tempted to do that every day… Anyway…

It may be cold, but you can still look hot (it was too easy). Bring out the inner snow bunny in you. Below some picks for stylish and functional cold weather accessories.

Eugenia Kim hat, $117. (Now this will keep you warm!)

MARC by Marc Jacobs beret, $159

Alright, who am I kidding? This isn’t going to keep you particularly warm, but you will look absolutely darling wearing it. (more…)
