Why Did You Wear That: Boot, Scoot, Blizzard

By |February 4th, 2014|Why Did You Wear That?|

new york snowIn case you missed it or your Instagram/Facebook feed was not spammed with Winter Wonderlandlike snapshots, it snowed in New York City yesterday.  And if you missed out on posting your very own frosty photo, don’t you worry- because as my chatty cab driver informed me this morning, we should be getting bombarded with another six inches this weekend.  That means one of two things: start stockpiling comfort food and libations or find footwear capable of navigating slush filled streets.  But, please don’t make them standard issue UGGs.  If you’re thinking it may be silly to invest in a pair of boots this late in the winter, let’s not forget that April showers bring May flowers and once it’s stopped being below freezing, we are sure to be showered for a couple more months before we fall back in love with the city during spring.

Setting the Mood: September Issues

By |August 19th, 2013|Setting the Mood|

september issuesPride cometh before a fall… and so does summer.  About a week ago, the weather started to change.  There was a slight shift in the air and in that moment, I knew:  fall was fast approaching. Sure, I’ve worked hard so as to be able to wear the least amount of clothing possible without offending anyone’s eyeballs, but I do love nothing more than a cozy cashmere scarf, slouchy suede boots, and slipping into a warm wool coat.  The fall brings with it thoughts of coupling up, nights by the fireplace, and the return of everyone back to the city after a summer in the Hamptons.  Tans start to fade, rooftops close, and pedicures become less necessary, but there is something magical in the autumn air.

Setting the Mood: Hut, Set, Who Cares…

By |January 28th, 2013|Setting the Mood|

what to wear to the superbowlWhether you like it or not, the Super Bowl cometh.  I’m on team “Or not.”  Doesn’t matter which team you’re rooting for… hold on… had to ask who’s playing… be it San Francisco or Baltimore, you will have to come to terms with the fact that 90+% of the American male population will be glued to the TV come Sunday and you can either book that weekend away with the girls, or get on board with the boys.  I’m on hold with the Four Seasons as we speak, but should you find yourself stuck at a pigskin party, you may as well get in the spirit of the game.  That would require one to dress the part.  Don’t bother wasting your time with heels, but please, heaven almighty, don’t be that girl wearing a football jersey.  Another option that gives the illusion you care?  Wear a cute and cozy top in your team’s color(s).  Should you despise both teams, just wear black or a color that has absolutely nothing to do with the game… like pink.  Distressed denim, designer sneaks, and a whistle accessory just for fun will complete your game day getup.

Setting the Mood: Winter White

By |December 13th, 2011|Setting the Mood|

Wearing white during the winter isn’t just for seal pups and polar bears.  Celebrities have been slipping into the virginal shade for seasons.  It’s a color fresh as the newly fallen snow.  Incorporating white into your wardrobe may seem scary, but other than the dry cleaning bills, it’s anything but.  Why blend in with standard black when you can steal the show (or actually camouflage yourself) with the color quite literally of the season?  Channel your inner snowflake and float my little friends, float.

Friday Frocks: Blue Jean Baby

By |August 5th, 2011|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

There’s nothing more American than denim… and apple pie… and apparently Sienna Miller taming a tiger.  Perhaps you’re not the type of girl who likes to slip into skin tight jeans, but  you’d still like to try to show some patriotism by wearing this heavy duty fabric.  Today’s your lucky day!  By God, every day is your lucky day because you live in America!  Denim isn’t reserved strictly for your stems these days.  Just take a look at how these stylish celebs (and America’s favorite Brit) have been wearing their blue jeans.

Who knew denim could make for such fabulous frocks?  By wearing you blues in dress form, you are giving a casually playful look that is perfect for summer barbecues, running errands, and lunching with girlfriends.  Depending on shoes and and accessories, this look can be dressed up or dressed down.  Just like jeans, denim frocks are very versatile.
