Friday Frocks: Shiny Disco Balls

2012 is just about over… and I can’t pretend I’m sad about it. To say it wasn’t my best year on record would be a ~~minor~~ massive understatement. That said, I am really looking forward to bidding this year adieu. Doing so will, of course, require a festive frock. Last year I provided the alternative to a sequin stunner, but who am I kidding? I love shiny things. (I also love miniature horses and champagne cocktails). Give me a reason to add glitter and I’ll gladly take you up on it. While some ladies may be those of leisure, others work hard for their money. They’re smart, determined, dedicated, and want to look damn good while dominating a board room. Friday Frocks: Lady in Red

Now that it is officially December, let the holiday melee begin. Not only do you have to find everyone on your holiday shopping list the perfect gift, you’re going to have to show up to give it to them. And well, that’s probably going to require your attendance at many a fab holiday soiree. So, why not start with one of the most obvious choices? The Little Red Dress. Now, let’s get one thing straight. Every couple of seasons or so, someone tries to dub another color the “New Little Black Dress.” Get real. There is no such thing as the “New Little Black Dress.” It’ll never happen. The Little Black Dress is like the Queen of England- not going anywhere. HOWEVER, during this magical month, it is fun to swap out basic black for a color more festive… like Santa’s famous red suit. (He wears black the rest of the year, FYI). Also, you dont have to go for the oh so obvious fire engine red. Try a deeper shade or perhaps even a pattern.

Friday Frocks: LWD

Despite the fact that the whole “don’t wear white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day” stigma is really no longer relevant, many people still follow these strict guidelines. Seeing as we are now in the “safe zone” of wearing white, I think it’s high time to trade in that trusty black cocktail dress for something a little lighter. May I suggest white? Nothing says summertime like golden skin against stark white hemlines.

By the way, how about a little history lesson on the rules of white between Memorial Day and Labor Day?:

Most of the folk-lore about wearing white seems to be rooted in the South (in other words, the part of the United States that is below the Mason Dixon Line). For GRITS (girls raised in the south), wearing white before Easter or after Labor Day is simply a clear sign of bad manners and poor class. Still today, many Southern ladies would never be seen wearing white in the winter or fall months, that is unless they were getting married.

There you have it, ladies. Time to move into this century. Ever heard of winter white? Anyway, why not slip into one of this white hot frocks this weekend?
