Weekend Playlist: I’ll Dance if I Want To

By |January 21st, 2012|Weekend Playlist|

dance partyIf you know anything about me, you know that I love a good dance party.  Um, hello?  Have you seen my “How To” videos?  You can’t learn moves like those.  Not that you really need a reason to have your own dance party, but a birthday is a pretty surefire way to get one started.  Whether it’s your birthday, your friend’s birthday, or you just enjoy dancing as much I do, here’s a great playlist to shake your limbs to.

I’ll dance if I want to.

Weekend Playlist: An Ode to the Big Apple

By |January 7th, 2012|Weekend Playlist|

Have I mentioned how much I love New York?  No?  Well, I do.  And while my adoration of the Big Apple may seem a bit “obsessive” to some, I’m not alone in my love affair.  More musicians than I can count have written love songs and odes to the city that never sleeps.  Now, my compilation doesn’t even begin to encompass all the ditties that reference New York, but it’s a start.

New York, New York.

Weekend Playlist: Jingle Bells

By |November 27th, 2011|Weekend Playlist|

As mentioned, I’m not the biggest fan of Christmas music… especially an overdose of carols before the Thanksgiving leftovers have even disappeared from the Tupperware in the fridge.  I am especially averse to the remakes of classic songs by every pop tart on the Top 40 charts.  Why can’t we just leave good enough alone?  Perhaps if festivity wasn’t shoved down my throat, I’d be more apt to be able to enjoy it.  Christmas music is proof that, in fact, you can have too much of a good thing.  But alas, it’s all fair game now… and if I’m going to jingle bell rock- it’s going to be to these classic Christmas tunes.

Jingle bells…

Weekend Playlist: Heartbreak Hotel

By |November 19th, 2011|Weekend Playlist|

It has come to my attention that there are two very distinct times of year when a lot of hearts are broken and left shattered.  One of those times would be late spring, heading into summer- which is quite self explanatory (um, bikini clad beach babes?).  The other is right around this time of year during the holidays.  One would think that as the temperatures drop, you’d want a warm body to keep you company, but when you think about it, the holidays put quite a bit of pressure on relationships.  There are presents to be bought, families to be met, and trips to be taken.  During the make or break time in fledgling relationships, some will flourish while others will fail.  Don’t count your tears though… count the dollars you’ll be saving by not buying that bum a gift!

While some studies suggest a good cry isn’t healthy, I like to wallow in my pain.  So if you’re an emotional cutter like me, here’s a playlist that will help you do just that.

Check out time is noon.

Weekend Playlist: Katie Don’t Play That

By |November 12th, 2011|Weekend Playlist|

When I tire of listening to the same playlist over and over and over…. and.  Well, you see where I’m headed.  I turn to my dear friend, Katie (who, if you will recall, guest “dj’ed” before).  She poo poo’s my Christina and Bruno and pulls me out from my teenage pop abyss.  I mean, that’s what friends are for, right?  Listen, Katie knows her music– so, if anyone’s looking for an A&R, this is the girl.  Anyway, I asked Katie to please, please, please make me a playlist that wouldn’t make someone over the age of 16 cringe and she put together this little party:

Oh, Katie… just climbing her way to the top of the charts.
