Why Did You Wear That: Hot Lips

By |March 27th, 2014|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

kirsten smith jeremy pennWith one of spring’s hottest trends being a nod to art inspired style, living in a city with not only limited wall space, but also limited funding for original artwork can be downright depressing- especially for those of us with pensions for more than basic black and white Ikea prints.  So, when New York based modern artist, Jeremy Penn, was generous enough to send one of his Hot Lips tanks (recently featured in InTouch), I was not only flattered, but floored.  Sure it’s “spring” here in the city, but it’s still too soon to bare it all in this soft and slouchy tank and since I really couldn’t be bothered to wait to wear it, I warmed it up with patterned denim, a light spring jacket, and colored suede booties- a look perfect for navigating the tourist infested cobblestone streets that I call home.

Why Did You Wear That: Beach Blanket Babe (ModCloth + Wanelo, Uniquely You)

By |March 27th, 2014|Why Did You Wear That?|

beach blanket bingoPerhaps my swimsuit guide was a bit presumptuous as we are a week into spring and only a few days away from April and yet I’m still swaddled in cashmere scarves and slouchy beanies.  As a matter of fact, it flurried the other night on my way crosstown.  So, if you, like me, jumped the gun and can’t wait to wear your new suit, try using a one piece as a body suit much like the look I’ve created from ModCloth below.

Why Did or Why Don’t: Flat Footed

tevas

Which came first: the Birkenstock of the Teva?  The answer doesn’t actually matter because they are both having fashion reincarnations this spring… much to the joy of some and chagrin of others.  While the Birkenstock reemergence has already been happening on the low for quite some time now, the other favored sandal of the 90’s complete with velcro straps and thick flat soles has just recently filled high end department stores’ and designer boutiques’ shelves.  Brands from Marni to Rebecca Minkoff have embraced and reinvented the functional over fashionable shoe with metallic leather, studs, and colorful embellishments.  While they sure will make traipsing through the city a lot less painful for your feet, I’m not sure about the effect they’ll have on our eyes.

Setting the Mood: Dirty Pop

By |March 24th, 2014|Setting the Mood|

pop art editorialAs mentioned, one of spring’s trends is that of wearable art.  While New York is full of museums stocked to the gills with great works of art and fledgling artists fill downtown galleries with their first pieces of genius, not all of us can afford to cover our tiny apartments’ walls with masterpieces other than our own.  And a step above Ikea prints are those replicas of the greats… hence the Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol prints on my own walls.  Another way to get your culture on is to wear it with some of spring’s poppiest pieces.

flower-fashion-makeupIt’s officially spring.  Fi.nal.ly.  It’s time to swap out the wardrobe and the beauty routine for something lighter and brighter.  No longer will you need to lubricate yourself with heavy creams and deep sultry scents. Click Here for awesome cream for cracked on heel.  Spring is all about being fresh, playful, and pretty.  Thankfully, beauty brands love flowers as much as any girl loves to receive them.  Whether it be harnessing the superpowers of rose petals or the capturing the sweet scent of jasmine, there’s no end to the way in which one can incorporate flora into her regimen.  And and aren’t you just as pretty as a petal? Looked into the mirror and wanted to do something about your skin condition? Is your skin too oily, too dry or have acne and pimples? There are many ways you can have treatment for acne and pimples. You can check that at our site as well.  Misumi Skincare will definitely take care of your skin. Need some good skin care beauty tips? Skin care beauty tips do wonders for the complexion and boost your self-confidence. This is even so for man as well. The thought that only women seek out beauty tips are a thing of the past. Today, men are as concerned about their appearance as women. One good skin care beauty tip is to use common natural items found at home.  Here are some winner best in beauty 2020 products, do visit. Unnatural products – products that contain too much chemicals, is not good for the skin. No matter how good the promises the products promised, one can end up doing more harm than good to the skin. Natural beauty products are made from plant essence and other organic elements. Look to these types of tips as these will do miracles for one’s skin care needs. The facial skin care beauty tip that I am thinking of is to find products that build healthy tissue deep down in your skin. It’s easy to find moisturizers that will make your skin feel soft and nice but typically their effect is short lived. The best skin care products are going to be those that have scientific evidence behind their ability to build collagen and elastin in your skin as they moisturize. It is also important to have a good cleansing, moisturizing, and exfoliating regimen to help your skin maintain its elasticity and texture. If you have the time, you can also learn how to take care of your skin by reading up on various skin care beauty tips on Internet or browsing the health magazines. Finding the right products for your skin is not that hard these days as all these resources are available online and in major bookstores. Note that using the right products is only half of the solution, the other more important half is having a healthy diet. It is through a proper diet and nutrition that you could help improve and maintain the healthy look of your skin. Here is one helpful site to know about having healthy skin. If you have ever had a day where you have eaten a lot of chocolate or candies, only to discover some pimples popping out on your face in the morning, then you would be able to understand the importance of proper diet.  The skin is the largest and important organ in our body. It plays an important function of purging toxins out of our body through sweat. If you eat something that is unhealthy, not only your body will suffer but also your skin. When your body is unhealthy, it will reflect on your skin. So eating a healthy and well-balanced diet is important not only for your skin but the entire body as well.
