Why Did You Wear That: Daisy Duke

April showers brought May flowers… and more showers. So, when there were a couple of consecutive days of actual sunshine last week, I was certain to take advantage of them. When the weather warms up, habitually angry city dwellers suddenly become jovial, relaxed, and if you look very closely, you may even see some of them smiling. The West Village is prime for people watching. Restaurants expand their dining rooms out onto the sidewalks and seats outdoors become prime real estate. Spring in New York reminds us all why we suffer through bitter cold, slushy streets, and near hypothermia. It gives us just enough to fall back in love before cursing it again during sweltering summer months.

Setting the Mood: The Daisies of Our Lives

Truth be told, I don’t care much for daisies. I often lump them into the same category as carnations, which are the cantaloupe of flowers in my book. However, there is something quite sunny about a daisy. And who doesn’t love playing “He Loves Me Not” with the petals? Honestly, you have a better chance of getting an accurate read from a bud than boy these days. So when you combine daisies with denim, you’ve got a combination that even Catherine Bach would stamp her seal of approval on.

Friday Frocks: Mommy and Me

In honor of Mother’s Day, this week’s frocks are dedicated to the beautiful babes with babies on board. And while I’ve not been pregnant, through writing this post, I did learn how tough it is to find something to cover up the impending baby bump. It would appear there are two basic approaches to dressing during pregnancy: loose and flowing empire waistlines or stretchy bodycon dresses. Being pregnant doesn’t require you to dress in tents and awnings and by slipping into something slinky, you are owning that bump… as you should.

Gift Guide: Hey Ma.

With Mother’s Day being this Sunday, it’s probably time to online shop for someone other than yourself. While breakfast in bed and a card with the outline of your hand drawn in crayon may have passed as an angsty pre-teen, it’s time to step your game up. Basically, it boils down to buying mom something you know she probably wants, but wouldn’t dare ask for because that’s what moms do. So, think about something indulgent, something she’s mentioned, or something you’ve seen her longingly look at. I mean, she’s going to like the fact that you even remembered most, but picking out something other than a footbath wouldn’t hurt.
