Everyone knows I love lingerie, a good cocktail, and my maltipoo, Smitty. Something else I love more than the average juice fasting female is swimwear. Some girls are all about bags, some about shoes and while I love both, a bikini is always certain to catch my attention as well as my paycheck. I even consider myself a bit of a bathing suit expert. I mean, I spent two years having the pleasure of filling Bendel’s with barely there beachwear.

I love bathing suits so much there are times when I wonder why I don’t just move to an island and live in a bikini whilst sipping on fresh coconuts, but then I get bored even imagining it and continue on in my concrete jungle.

Sure, this took me the greater portion of a day to pull together, but because I love swimwear so much, I enjoyed every moment of it. Whether you love a one piece or the teeniest of itsy bitsy bikinis, I’ve rounded up a suit in almost all of this spring’s biggest trends that should tickle your fancy or at least your fanny. Why Did You Wear That: All Set To Sweat

On winter days when you wake up to the sound of salt trucks clanging down the street, it’s pretty easy to lose any and all motivation to get thyself to a gym, even if it is in your building- like one floor down. It all starts innocently enough, skipping a day here and there and then before you know it, you’re making death threats to your laundry service for “shrinking” every single pair of your designer denim jeans. Your scale also seems to be going haywire because your floor is clearly uneven. Write yourself a Post-It to call the super. You did not gain ten pounds of winter weight existing on Seamless orders alone. And then you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror on the way out of the bathroom post shower…

Normally, I’d be pretty pissed at Punxsutawney Phil for sentencing us with another six weeks of winter, but let’s look at the upside. Now, you have six more weeks to shed those polar vortex pounds. I suggest posting a picture of a Victoria’s Secret Angel to your refrigerator, following a fitness inspiration account on Instagram, and cease and desist wearing pants with elastic waistbands… unless you’re heading to the gym/Pilates/cycling/yoga. Other than an awesome playlist, having cute and flattering workout gear is a great way to make sweating seem a bit less sticky… and stinky.

This summer, many celebrities have been seen wearing a retro style bathing suit in the form of a high waisted bikini. On one hand, it’s nice to see Hollywood covering up its hoo-ha’s, but on the other, some styles were not meant to be resuscitated. Everyone from Drew Barrymore to Uma Thurman has worn one of these torso-centric suits. You know Taylor Swift loves herself a high waisted bikini.

I understand the ideology behind it. You’re thinking, “This bad boy is going to hide my FUPA and minimize my muffin top.” Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news (no, I don’t), but the only thing a high waisted bikini is going to do is emphasize all the flaws you seek to hide. Not to mention, most retro suits have much lower cut legs, which will only make your stems appear stumpier. Basically, you’re like one big walking pelvis. The only thing worse than this beach look from the front, is how it looks from behind. Talk about long ass.

Why Did You Wear That: Suits, No Ties.

You know what I love almost as much/more/I can’t decide than lingerie? Swimsuits. Know why? ‘Cause it’s like underwear that you can wear in public. Who doesn’t like beating the heat poolside wearing a barely there fashion statement? And why else have you been going to the gym? Oh right, for cardiovascular health, of course. Whatever, you totally do it to counterbalance those Girl Scout cookies. You’re not fooling anyone. Not that it matters because swimsuit season is upon us and you’re just going to have to come to terms with that.

This season’s swimwear is strongly reflective of spring trends. Colorblocking, graphic black and white, midriff tops, fringe, and cutouts are all staples for the catwalk as well as the boardwalk. Friday Frocks: Wine and Dine

Seeing as weekends in the fall are meant for meeting a man to keep you warm all winter, you’re going to need a fresh frock to welcome in the “cuffing” season. Sure, we all have the classic LBD, but what about something a little warmer? Something in this season’s most coveted color, perhaps? That’s right, I’m talking about switching your shade like you’re switching from rose to pinot noir. The great thing about fall’s oxblood/burgundy/whatever you’ve decided to call it color is that it’s so very flattering on skin tones from porcelain to caramel to mocha- just like this particular Helmut Lang frock I’ve been lusting after every single time I pass the Intermix on my corner.
