Girl Crush: Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

By |March 23rd, 2011|Celebrity Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

My what big eyes you have… I’ve loved Amanda Seyfried since she played the dopey Karen Smith in Mean Girls alongside Lady Lohan, herself.  So what a perfect choice she was for the storybook turned mega movie, Red Riding Hood, released earlier this month.  With classic fairytale features, they couldn’t have cast a better beauty for little Ms. Hood.

It doesn’t take much for Amanda to look lovely.  With gigantic green eyes, perfectly porcelain skin, and hair that dreams were made of, it would really be hard for this stunning starlet to look bad.  Her red carpet style is simple, understated, and very sexy.  She knows her legs are her best feature and she isn’t afraid to show them off (smart girl).  During her downtime, Ms. Seyfried can be spotted around town with dog, Finn and her signature sunglasses.  Her style is always effortlessly chic.

Friday Frocks: Yeah Baby!

By |March 11th, 2011|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

It’s no secret that the runways have been channeling the swinging seventies and we’ve seen that flares are making a re-emergence.  With spring just around the corner, what better way to get into the spirit than with a flowy patterned frock?  I’m not talking about fembots and shooting bullets out of your brassiere.  I’m talking about flowing fabrics in psychedelic prints.

These breezy dresses would look great paired with flat over the knee boots and a leather jacket until it’s warm enough to lose the boots and strap on some platform sandals.

Why Did You Wear That: Twinkle Toes

By |December 28th, 2010|Why Did You Wear That?|

My grandpa used to call me “Twinkle Toes” and maybe that’s why I have such an affinity for these sparkly shoes.  I believe he called me Twinkle Toes because I was a prima ballerina (in my own mind), but  I have a feeling that nickname has nothing to do with my insatiable thirst for all things shiny. In any case, everywhere you look right now, there are sparkly, shiny, glitter covered shoes and nothing could make me happier (except maybe a 25 foot chandelier).  Check out these shiners sure to catch somebody’s eye:

Christian Louboutin Lady Peep Glittered Pump, $895

Miu Miu Glitter Finish Pumps, $595

Report Signature Clarkson Jeweled Booties, $395

Betsey Johnson Ruby Pumps with Crystals, $238

Steve Madden Snobbie Glitter Shoe, $109.95

Sam Edelman Novato Glitter Pumps, $99

Forever 21 Sequin Peep Toe Stilettos, $27.80

PS: I haven’t been able to post my own pic in these posts because I’m in the middle of Pennsylvania right now with a suitcase full of cozy cashmere to keep me warm. So, until next week you’ll need to live without my mug.

Why Did You Wear That: I’m in Love with a Stripper… Shoe.

By |May 20th, 2009|Look for Less, Why Did You Wear That?|

I stumbled upon these sexy summer sandals the other day and they got me to thinking…

pg_156265683_thMiu Miu Platform T-strap Sandal, $635

Um, there’s a reason guys love strip clubs.  Okay, yes, they can drink and watch naked girls shake what their mama’s gave them (or daddy’s bought them) and not be nagged about what they left on the floor, but these “ladies” have mastered the art of exuding sex. They know what they are doing with those ridiculously high heels.  Guys love legs. They always have. It’s human nature. Super duper high (supa dupa fly- sorry, Missy Elliot is currently playing) heels can make even the stubbiest little legs look longer and more appealing.

Maybe we could take a little note from these lap dancing ladies. I mean, how many of you have already taken a pole dancing “exercise” class?  So if you’d rather your man steer clear of Scores and hang with you, then you’d better give him a good reason. A girlfriend once asked me for some fashion advice when she knew she was going to see her very recent ex at a birthday party. I simply told her to look as close to a stripper without actually looking like a stripper. It is a very fine line that you do NOT want to cross, but when done correctly, is incredibly effective (kind of like the “bend and snap”- Legally Blonde, duh).

While those Miu Miu’s are heaven on heels, I’m not bank rolling right now and these platforms from Bebe are a close replacement. Ironic that “Candy” from Sapphire’s is probably in more of a financial position to purchase expensive heels. Sigh…

Real People, Real Style: Natty Style

By |April 9th, 2009|Real People Real Style|

In my 20-something years of life, I have learned that positive reinforcement is the best way to motivate people.  So, instead of just making fun of the fashion f*ck ups, I’ve decided to praise those of you who are making the world a prettier place… one outfit at a time.

We found this blonde bombshell right here in Manhattan.

natalie

Name: Natalie Decleve

Occupation: PR and Events Manager, Kiki De Montparnasse

Hometown: Palo Alto, CA

Wearing: dress- 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent, bag- vintage Dior (remember what I told you about vintage bags being cool?), shoes- Michael Kors Collection (sorry, can’t really see them, but they were divine), bangle- Forever 21, necklace- vintage, ring- rando no name designer from a boutique in Hoboken

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and your bag was only big enough for 3 items, what would they be: My super soft and slouchy Inhabit cashmere sweater (hey you didn’t say it was a tropical island…), my subscription to Bazaar (can I do that?), a box of French macaroons.

Favorite beauty product: L’artisan Parfumeur, Poivre Piquant perfume

Style icon: Kate Moss

This summer, I can’t wait to wear: my bright turquoise Calypso linen mu-mu and destroyed denim (not together, obvi!)

Style tip for all the fashion degenerates: If you don’t feel confident wearing it, don’t.

Best splurge (it was worth every penny): Balenciaga motorcycle bag in grey –  the older it gets, the cooler it looks.

Trend you’d like to see die: One shouldered anything – why is it still happening?! WHY?! Oh- and Marc Jacobs. Just in general. Like I say after every season’s show: The Emperor’s New Clothes…

Currently coveting: Miu Miu Nappa bag in nude leather… ahh I’m obsessed!

And we are obsessed with you, Ms. Decleve.  Well done.
