Friday Frocks: Cadbury Cuties

By |April 6th, 2012|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

easter bonnetWhile some of you may only look forward to the Easter season for those delicious Cadbury cream eggs and Peeps, others take this day pretty seriously.  For instance, my mother.  For as long as I had no say in the matter, my mom decked me out from head to toe (literally).  She didn’t just stop with a pretty pastel frock for Sunday service.  She went as far as sewing fresh flowers into my bonnet and that little handbag I was holding.  She was at least kind enough to tuck away some jelly beans in my bag so as to keep me quiet during all those songs at church.  Did I mention I’m tone deaf?  Anyway, if you’re anything like my mom, you’re probably looking to deck yourself out this Sunday.  Lucky for you (and the Easter bunny), everything pastel and floral is right on trend this spring and you should have no trouble at all finding something pretty to wear.   And for my non-Easter celebrating friends, Happy Passover.  Chag Sameach.

Friday Frocks: Going Green

By |March 16th, 2012|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

st patricks dayI’m not typically someone who gets all decked out in green for St. Patrick’s Day.  It seems a bit trite and if you try pinching me because I don’t abide, I may very well punch you.  However, green has been having quite a moment.  So, perhaps it would be a bit easier to find something attractive, not tacky, to sport during the beer fueled festivities.  In order to still look like a lady rather than leprechaun, try these frocks that’ll have you going green whether it be mossy, minty, or military.

Friday Frocks: Garden Party

By |March 9th, 2012|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

alice in wonderland tea party

I don’t care what that little groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, said.  It feels like spring outside and I’m ready to throw one heck of a garden party.  Should your teacup be full of tea or champagne… it doesn’t really matter.  Find your most floral frock and accessorize with the most gigantic hat your pretty little head can hold up and a pair of chunky heels (so as to avoid sinking into the sod).  Grab your girlfriends for a day of gabbing and grubbing… just don’t fall down the rabbit hole.

Friday Frocks: Lots o’ Dots

By |March 2nd, 2012|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

dalmatiansPolka dots may automatically elicit thoughts of sweet baby dalmatians and Minnie Mouse, but this prissy pattern can be much more sophisticated when paired with modern accessories or worn in an unexpected shape.  Dots don’t have to be in the typical black and white variation, but if you do choose to go the traditional route, now is the perfect opportunity to incorporate a punch of neon with your accessories.  Though dots do seem straightforward, look for them in different colors, fabrics, and dimensions to make them all your own.

Friday Frocks: The Highs and Lows

By |February 17th, 2012|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

highs and lows

Should you wear a long dress?  Or something short and sassy?  Can’t make up your mind?  You don’t have to!  Recently I’ve seen an influx of frocks that allow you to wear both.  Short in the front and long in the back.  Is this the mullet of dresses?  Maybe.  Hm… the mullet suddenly makes so much more sense to me now.  Weird.  These  schizophrenic hemmed frocks appear to be the perfect answer for an outdoor or afternoon wedding or a semi-formal party.  When you’re wearing both how can you really go wrong?
