Friday Frocks: Frock Optional

This shouldn’t be news to you, but I love rompers. If there’s a romper on the rack, most likely it’s going to end up in my closet. Sure they’re really annoying when you have to use the ladies’ room and not the best choice when going in for a Brazilian, but they are one step dressing (Why do you think babies like them so much?). Which leads me to my point… Frocks have been getting all the attention. Rompers are all like, “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia.” Well, fact is, rompers are my Marcia. Friday Frocks: Cut It Out

Speaking of cutting things up. Another trend for summer that will most likely carry into fall is that of the cut out dress. Instead of the daring deep V or the slit all the way up to… designers have opted for the unexpected flash of flesh. This look is very specific, so let’s not get carried away with too much ventilation- though the impending heatwave may make it tempting. The look is a peek of skin, not “I was accosted by the cousin of Edward Scissorhands on the way to The Darby.” So embrace the trend, but not too tightly.

Friday Frocks: Ray of White

Along with the official kick off of summer, Memorial Day is also the day that white dresses get the “go ahead” green light (according to some). While white dresses are most often associated with weddings, christenings, and clam bakes, in my book, a Tuesday is as good a day as any to wear a stark white dress. There is just something so fresh, so innocent and dare I say virginal about slipping into a snow toned frock? We’ve already worked up the courage with off white and now it’s go time, ladies. Get out your Tide To Go pens, self tanner, and biggest and brightest smile. Summer’s here and the living is easy.

It sorta seems like life went ahead and decided to cram as much as possible into the last few months of the year. Sort of like it forgot and then was like, “Oh crap! We gotta do all this.” So, that keeps ladies like you and me pretty busy. In between all of the end of year festivities, we still need to find time to run those never ending errands. Friday Frocks: Lady in Red

Now that it is officially December, let the holiday melee begin. Not only do you have to find everyone on your holiday shopping list the perfect gift, you’re going to have to show up to give it to them. And well, that’s probably going to require your attendance at many a fab holiday soiree. So, why not start with one of the most obvious choices? The Little Red Dress. Now, let’s get one thing straight. Every couple of seasons or so, someone tries to dub another color the “New Little Black Dress.” Get real. There is no such thing as the “New Little Black Dress.” It’ll never happen. The Little Black Dress is like the Queen of England- not going anywhere. HOWEVER, during this magical month, it is fun to swap out basic black for a color more festive… like Santa’s famous red suit. (He wears black the rest of the year, FYI). Also, you dont have to go for the oh so obvious fire engine red. Try a deeper shade or perhaps even a pattern.
