Friday Frocks: It’s My Party

By |January 21st, 2011|Friday Frocks|

Every girl wants to look great on her special day.  Most guys really just don’t seem to understand how important the “birthday dress” is.  Probably because they are much more interested in our “birthday suits.”  Last night, before dinner at Cecconi’s , I fussed about not having a birthday dress.  Someone pointed out that I had a ton of dresses in my closet.  “But they are all blaaaack!” I whined.  Luckily, after a little digging, I found a dress I had yet to wear and it wasn’t black! Crisis averted.  I avoided the birthday blues, but I suggest planning ahead of time.  Here are some very fun, very “birthday” dresses.

(L to R): Red Valentino Sequin Embellished Tulle Dress, $795, Herve Leger Geometric Pattern Party Dress, $2,500, Vera Wang One Shoulder Tulle Bustier Dress, $2,300, BCBG One Shoulder Tulle Dress, $398

(L to R): Alice and Olivia Vanda Bandage Shift Dress, $596, Nicole Miller Sequin and Tulle Dress, $485, Young Fabulous and Broke Hazel Dress, $295, Foley and Corinna Beaded Godet Dress, $490

Why Did You Wear That: Peaches n’ Cream

By |January 18th, 2011|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

I was so excited to see some of my favorite shades on the red carpet this past weekend.  I especially loved the color of the Calvin Klein that Emma Stone wore (despite the fact that I was a bit turned off that her hair and skin matched -monochromatic much?).  Anyway, any good reason to post pictures of amazingly lovely shades of nudes and peach and I’m in.  I really do adore the mix of peach (or sherbert) and nude together especially in a simple sophisticated silhouette.  The trick? Do not physically MATCH the color of your dress!

Top (L to R): Naven Bombshell Dress, $345, Alice and Olivia Tina Seamed Cutout Dress, $297, Delphine Murat Short Dress, $49, Alice and Olivia Cowl Neck Silk Blend Dress, $110.25

Bottom (L to R): Camilla and Marc Orion Paneled Ponte Dress, $550, Patterson J. Kincaid Linen Maxi Dress, $168Thatcher by Alisse Thatcher Refine Slip Dress, $84.70Herve Leger Rose Blush Cutout Sleeve Dress, $1,570

Delish!

Friday Frocks: Little White Dress

By |January 14th, 2011|Friday Frocks|

We all have been schooled in the LBD (Little Black Dress), but since I’ve been spending lots (by lots I mean excessive amounts) of time on wedding blogs, I’ve noticed an ever growing trend.  While many women opt for the traditional bridal gown, many are choosing something shorter, more fun, and less conventional for the walk down the aisle.  Can’t lie, I absolutely love a poofy white dress… but I still went the traditional route.  Hm, though there is nothing wrong with a costume change…

Lanvin Tiered Silk Gazar Dress, $4,960

Donna Karan Crepe Jersey Halter Dress, $1.995

Notte by Marchesa One Shoulder Pleat Detail Dress, $695

Haute Hippie Fringe Dress, $695

Sue Wong Strapless Chiffon and Organza Sheath Dress, $368

Alice and Olivia Reese Peplum Dress, $368

Tt Collection Cecile Dress, $228

Style Stalker Desert Rose Dress, $149

I do.

Friday Frocks: Blushing Beauty

By |November 5th, 2010|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

I just can’t get enough of this muted pastel color. I love muted colors to begin with, but this shade is really just so pretty and flattering on everyone. It’s a much more user friendly tone than nude. Blush is a feminine and chic shade that will have all the boys swooning. (Lady Malks, this one’s for you):

Herve Leger Signature Essentials Short Sleeve Cocktail Dress, $1,450

Preen Line Elsa Silk-Satin and Jersey Dress, $630

Rag and Bone Camden Cocktail Dress, $390

Alice and Olivia Marcia One Shoulder Dress, $275

Arden B. Ruched Mesh Dress, $79
