Would You Wednesday: Field of Greens

By |November 16th, 2011|Why Did or Why Don't?|

The holidays are just around the corner.  I mean, obviously.  I can’t escape the already blaring Christmas carols and tinsel covered shelves at Target.  Since when did we start celebrating before the turkey was even tossed in the oven?  Ah, well, either way this means that many of you are already thinking about holiday dressing (and no, I don’t mean the kind on your table).

Recently, both Gwyneth Paltrow and Zoe Saldana were snapped wearing head to toe sequined green frocks at different events.  Both were by Elie Saab (someone’s having a green moment) and both prove that green is flattering on all skin tones and hair colors.  Green is a fresh new take on wearing color and I’m a fan of opting for green rather than reindeer red for holiday parties, but what do you think?

Go green.

Why Did You Wear That: Morning Glory

By |November 15th, 2011|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

Ever have one of those days where you just don’t want to get out of bed?  You’d rather just stay in your jammies and spend the day watching garbage daytime TV and taking all your meals in bed?  Oh, that’s everyday?  Yeah, me too.  Sadly, mama’s gotta pay the bills… which, of course, would require one to actually pry herself from those 1200 thread count sheets and take part in normal human behavior and social activities.  Oh well… doesn’t mean you can’t be comfortable.  As a matter of fact, I’d like to encourage you to wear your nightgown from your bedroom right on downtown.

Slip a soft sweater over your silky nightie.  Accessorize with chunky gold accessories, a pop of bright eye makeup (so you don’t still look like you’re sleeping), and work appropriate oxfords.  While it may not be the day you dreamt of, at least you will look dreamy.

1. Anthropologie Mirabelle Chemise, $89.60, 2. Report Lance Oxford Platforms, $66.90, 3. Frenchi Off-Shoulder Oversived Sweater, $58, 4. Kenneth Cole Silver Iridescent Beaded Bracelet, $35, 5. Mango TOUCH Asymmetric Earrings, $34.90

Good morning.

Setting the Mood: Amazing Lace

By |November 14th, 2011|Setting the Mood|

Lace, unlike any other textile has the ability to be simultaneously sensuous and sweet.  Such a delicate fabric holds so much power.  Whether chantilly or guipure, lace leaves just enough to the imagination while remaining feminine rather than foul.  Incorporating a touch of lace can add ladylike softness to any attire.

Rough day at the office?  A warm bubble bath, sweet scented candles, and slipping into a flirty lace chemise or robe is the ultimate remedy.  It doesn’t even matter if no one sees it, but it may be more fun if they do.

Monday Mashup: Fruitastic Fail

By |November 14th, 2011|Monday Mashup|

Why yes, Katy Perry, you do look a whole lot like this pink haired plastic playtoy that so many of us lovingly called, Strawberry Shortcake.  And while she was my hero when I was no taller than a step stool, I’m not sure that as a grown woman you want to share much in common with this fruity femme… except for say, her strawberry scented coif.

Katy, are you having a quarter life crisis?  Or is Russell into some freaky fetish role playing thing?  The only thing I am certain of is that you look absolutely ridiculous… but let’s see what the WhyDid’ers have to say about your fruity follicles:

Now that’s not berry nice.

Why Did You Wear That: Trail Blazers

By |November 13th, 2011|Look for Less, Why Did You Wear That?|

You may only associate the blazer as a piece of clothing worn by uptight businessmen and those ladies who wear white sneakers on their commute to work, but I’d like to let you in on a little style secret.  The blazer is far less boring and uptight than you think it is.  As a matter of fact, a blazer can go great for a laid back weekend running errands or a night out on the town with your girlfriends.  Check out how Heidi, Miranda, and Blake all incorporated this style staple into their wardrobes this week:

1. Forever 21 Open Front Blazer, $28.90, 2. Genetic Denim The Shane Skinny Jeans, $69.74, 3. Charlotte Russe Raised Knit Beret, $9.50, 4. bebe 2b Multicolor Zebra Scarf, $15.95, 5. Nike Air Jordan Alpha 1 iD
