Friday Frocks: Bring Sexy Back.

In case you missed it, yesterday, ol’ Justin Timberlake very slyly announced his return to music. The internet went crazy… ’cause while we enjoyed you on the silver screen, JT, we missed you on the radio and check updates at Radio Waves. So, let’s take our d out of the box and get back in the booth. Remember this plea to the pop star?

A new album is near and in preparation of “bringing sexy back,” I’ve compiled a collection of dresses that do just that. Sure, I like JT just fine, but I really just wanted an excuse to showcase spine friendly frocks. The vertebrae is the new decollete and these little numbers would be just perfect for shimmying to Timberlake’s new tunes.

Friday Frocks: Go Long

I had to double check that the Super Bowl had not, in fact, already happened. (It will happen on February 3rd- I Googled it). That said, my pun stands. Anyway, in the cold winter months, dressing can become a bit of a bore. How many different ways can we wear jeans? And since some of you can’t get it through your pretty little skulls that leggings are not pants, I have come up with yet another option for comfort without sacrificing style. The maxi dress is often associated with balmy summer nights and backyard barbecues, but I have found the knit long sleeve, slinky maxi dress to be one of my new favorite winter time staples. There are endless ways to style this look be it a fur (faux) vest over top, layered in gauzy scarves, with flat motorcycle boots or sky high ankle booties. The maxi dress is as versatile as it is comfortable.

Friday Frocks: Shiny Disco Balls

2012 is just about over… and I can’t pretend I’m sad about it. To say it wasn’t my best year on record would be a ~~minor~~ massive understatement. That said, I am really looking forward to bidding this year adieu. Doing so will, of course, require a festive frock. Last year I provided the alternative to a sequin stunner, but who am I kidding? I love shiny things. (I also love miniature horses and champagne cocktails). Give me a reason to add glitter and I’ll gladly take you up on it. New Year’s Eve is the perfect occasion to shine, so dust off those paillettes and party hats, the countdown to midnight has begun.

Friday Frocks: Playing Dress Up

Okay, so for any of you other ladies who are doing the ultimate stall on selecting a Halloween costume, I have some quick, easy, and not so slutty ideas for you. Friday Frocks: I Can Love You Sweater.

By now, it should be clear how I feel about knitwear. Cardigans, pullovers, hats, and gloves. My favorite piece of knitwear, however, is the sweater dress. By far one of the most versatile pieces of the autumnal season, it can be worn alone with a great pair of boots, with tights when the brisk breeze turns to a crisp chill, and over leggings when the snow plows start to rumble through the streets. A slouchy, soft sweaterdress is the equivalent of an oversized boyfriend shirt. It’s comfortable, easy, and altogether chic. It also has the overwhelming effect of making you look completely cuddly and I cannot be held responsible if handsome strangers have the overwhelming urge to hug you when wearing one.
