Setting the Mood: Musical Chairs

By |April 7th, 2014|Setting the Mood|

coachella-fashionIn case your Instagram, Facebook or group chat has not yet been inundated with updates regarding the southern California music festival known as Coachella, brace yourselves… because from Thursday on, you will see nothing but one post after the next regarding this outdoor bohemian booze fest.  While it seems feelings are mixed in my social circle, one Bullett writer has some pretty strong feelings about the festival and I can’t say I totally disagree.  There’s a reason I’ve never actually accepted casual invitations to attend.  I have a hard enough time watching panhandlers perform in an overcrowded subway car.  Spending several days sweating in the desert with 90,000 other overly dehydrated, underdeodorized strangers is a variation of my own personal hell.

I’d need a heavy dosage of CBD oil for anxiety to keep my anxiety at bay, but if attending a more commercialized Woodstock is your cup of kombucha, you’re going to need to get music fest ready.  The only thing more important than securing somewhere to shower other than the community bathrooms and scoring invites to all of the VIP pool parties is packing just the right pieces to have you looking carefree but not costumed.

Setting the Mood: Make It Rain

By |March 31st, 2014|Setting the Mood|

rain fashion editorialWithout a doubt New Yorkers are some of the most intelligent and interesting people on the entire planet and yet all we can seem to talk about is the weather.  Like yesterday for instance, what the hell was that?  Thunder and flurries?  Perhaps we harp on it because it is one thing all of us share no matter our occupations or backgrounds or it could be the fact that all weather, whether heatwaves, snowstorms, or torrential downpours seem to be more extreme when experienced in the city.  In any case, today is the last day before April and though the icy temperatures have started to break (kind of) we always seem to forget that we are now set for another month of miserable grey skies and sloppy street puddles before real spring sets in.  So, brace yourselves and get weather ready with some storm essentials.  This is not a test.

Setting the Mood: Dirty Pop

By |March 24th, 2014|Setting the Mood|

pop art editorialAs mentioned, one of spring’s trends is that of wearable art.  While New York is full of museums stocked to the gills with great works of art and fledgling artists fill downtown galleries with their first pieces of genius, not all of us can afford to cover our tiny apartments’ walls with masterpieces other than our own.  And a step above Ikea prints are those replicas of the greats… hence the Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol prints on my own walls.  Another way to get your culture on is to wear it with some of spring’s poppiest pieces.

Today, men are as concerned about their appearance as women. One good skin care beauty tip is to use common natural items found at home.  Here are some winner best in beauty 2020 products, do visit. Unnatural products – products that contain too much chemicals, is not good for the skin. No matter how good the promises the products promised, one can end up doing more harm than good to the skin. Natural beauty products are made from plant essence and other organic elements. Look to these types of tips as these will do miracles for one’s skin care needs. The facial skin care beauty tip that I am thinking of is to find products that build healthy tissue deep down in your skin. It’s easy to find moisturizers that will make your skin feel soft and nice but typically their effect is short lived. The best skin care products are going to be those that have scientific evidence behind their ability to build collagen and elastin in your skin as they moisturize. It is also important to have a good cleansing, moisturizing, and exfoliating regimen to help your skin maintain its elasticity and texture. If you have the time, you can also learn how to take care of your skin by reading up on various skin care beauty tips on Internet or browsing the health magazines. Finding the right products for your skin is not that hard these days as all these resources are available online and in major bookstores. Note that using the right products is only half of the solution, the other more important half is having a healthy diet. It is through a proper diet and nutrition that you could help improve and maintain the healthy look of your skin. Here is one helpful site to know about having healthy skin. If you have ever had a day where you have eaten a lot of chocolate or candies, only to discover some pimples popping out on your face in the morning, then you would be able to understand the importance of proper diet.  The skin is the largest and important organ in our body. It plays an important function of purging toxins out of our body through sweat. If you eat something that is unhealthy, not only your body will suffer but also your skin. When your body is unhealthy, it will reflect on your skin. So eating a healthy and well-balanced diet is important not only for your skin but the entire body as well.

Setting the Mood: Go Green

By |March 10th, 2014|Setting the Mood|

green fashionWhile all of us damn near took sledgehammers to our alarm clocks this morning thanks to Daylight Savings, we were stopped only upon realization that this tortuous early wake up call puts us that much closer to spring… and our alarm clocks are more than likely our most prized possessions, our cell phones– and it’s very difficult to choose the right Instagram filter with a cracked screen, not to mention dangerous.

And although we’ve safely guided ourselves through and survived the onslaught of holidays starting in November and ending with the massacre that is Valentines’s Day, there is one more left that I hesitate to actually qualify as a holiday.  The “holiday” to which I’m referring is St. Patrick’s Day and the only thing I despise more than the streets of my beloved city being crammed full of drunken non-Irish leprechauns is that one obnoxious human who will, without fail, attempt to pinch you due to not wearing a speck of green.  My younger self had much stronger feelings as to which green was appropriate (A refresher of NYC on St. Patrick’s Day), my older wiser self is much more lax and think even a green juice should count.  So, let’s play along and get our green on.
