Why Did You Wear That: This Week’s Top 5 Looks

By |December 4th, 2010|Celebrity Style|

I struggled a bit this week trying to round up the best of the best in Hollywood. Probably has a lot to do with the overwhelming trend of black lace LBD’s. Everyone from Taylor Swift to Kylie Minogue was spotted in one. So, I finally found five lovely ladies deserving of this week’s best dressed list.

  1. Carrie Underwood in Jenny Packham for the CMA Artists of the Year Celebration. I wasn’t surprised I liked this look as soon as I saw it was Jenny Packham.
  2. Blake Lively at Footwear News Achievement Awards wearing Prabal Gurung and Christian Louboutin shoes (of course). Does she ever look bad?
  3. Reese Witherspoon in a Dolce & Gabbana dress and Jimmy Choo shoes while revealing her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Looking as American as apple pie.
  4. Fergie wearing a hot pink D&G blazer and Helmut Lang leather pants at the launch of Avon Voices.  Hey, at least her outfit is better behaved than her husband…
  5. Most improved award goes to Katy Perry wearing Georges Chakra with Brian Atwood heels at the Grammy Nominations Concert.  Yay! Katie is wearing her grown up outfit!

Friday Frocks: Swan Song

By |December 3rd, 2010|Friday Frocks|

This may be one of my favorite Friday Frocks to date. I have a personal obsession with all things ballet related seeing as I was two pom-poms away from trading in college career for a blistered toed career of ballet (there’s a reason I love Center Stage). Needless to say, I can’t wait to see this movie (I’m aware it’s no Nutcracker).  So if you are looking to channel your inner inner prima ballerina, try on these frilly frocks. I don’t recommend losing the 20+ pounds that Mila and Natalie lost for the film, but slipping into something dainty will certainly have you feeling like doing pirouettes in your Loubous.

Vivienne Westwood Gold Label Taffeta and Tulle Gown, $3,017

J. Mendel Embellished Georgette Gown, $1,918

BCBG MAXAZRIA Ruffle Tulle One Shoulder Dress, $398

Sandro Rancon Silk and Tulle Dress, $395

Elizabeth and James Soma Ruched Dress, $267

White House Black Market Grey Tulle Soiree Dress, $188

BCBG MAXAZRIA Tutu Tank Dress, $168

ModCloth 4 Score and 7 Tiers Ago Dress, $53.99

Why Did You Wear That: Slave 4 Fashion

By |December 3rd, 2010|Celebrity Style|

I mean I hate to kick a horse while she’s down… especially right after her birthday… but a crime against fashion is a crime against fashion. It’s no secret that I’ve never been a huge Brit Brit fan, but I was rooting for her comeback as much as the next girl. I, along with Elin Woods, understand the rage she felt when slamming into that car with an umbrella.

So, it pains me to see that her comeback was only a fleeting moment in time and she has resorted back to looking like this:

Oh, Brit. Where shall I begin? It seems like an oxymoron to have a shirt buttoned up to your chin while wearing shorts that the pockets are hanging out of. And… are those… BEDAZZLED UGGS? Ugh, is right. What do you get the girl who has everything this year for Christmas? Hopefully, a stylist.

don’t let me be the last to know…

The List Volume XXX

By |December 3rd, 2010|The List|

Everyone’s favorite time of the week. The List. This week, I’m going to stick with the original format. Obnoxious on the rocks. You’re welcome.

  1. Kim Kardashian’s dating life. We get it. She’s slept with EVERYONE.
  2. Matt Lauer calling this little guy ugly. He probably punches kittens.
  3. People who complain about their weight and then chomp down on BK and Mickey D’s for lunch daily. Ever thought of a salad?
  4. People who do not remove the tags from their outerwear. I think it’s safe to assume they probably also did not unstitch their pockets either.
  5. The Subway commercials that use the little kid voices. Creeeep-y!
  6. Kathie Lee. Why’s she so mean to Hoda?
  7. People who take the elevator to get to the second floor. They’re called stairs. Try them. (*Note: unless you are physically unable then this is void).
  8. Crying children. Shut. Up.
  9. Waiting longer than two minutes to be served in an empty bar. No, seriously, it’s fine. I’ll wait.
  10. Justin Bieber’s new ‘do.

Have a wonderful weekend!

WhyDid Wisdom: Cut It Out

By |December 3rd, 2010|WhyDid Wisdom|

Today while Skyping with one of my besties in New York, we giggled about how at times, I go ahead and take the next exit to CrazyTown. That sometimes, I can be completely melodramatic. And quite honestly, I’m an emotional cutter.

This actually isn’t funny and I’m not like Demi Lovato cutting. I do not inflict physical harm on myself, but I do tend to enjoy inflicting emotional pain on myself. For some reason I like to see things that are going to hurt my feelings. I can’t explain it, but I find myself doing things that I know ahead of time are going to hurt me.  I’ve mentioned before that I have crazy P.I. skills and at times those can be really helpful, but at other times they can be totally detrimental to my mental well being.

Why on earth do I need to see that Twitpic? Why would I want to read something mean someone said about me? Why do I want to read blogs that totally rip me off? All very good questions. It’s almost like I enjoy feeling the pain. And don’t you worry. I’m not selfish with my pain. I like to share it with those around me.

It’s like when you have a cut in your mouth and you keep sticking your tongue in it.  Perhaps I’m a masochist. Maybe I’m self destructive. One thing’s for certain, I’m fully aware of my problem. That is again, a blessing and a curse. I’m happy to be well aware of my self abusive behavior, however, being aware of such makes me become responsible for myself.  So, the other day, I started taking steps forward in “cutting” this self cutting habit from my life. I started deleting toxic people from my life.

If you find yourself participating in this same behavior, ask yourself, “why?”  Is it that hard to just be happy?
