I’m like a college kid on summer vacation this year.  Needless to say, this has allowed me to hone my cocktail mixing skills. Sad, but true. However, my “adversity” equals your quenched thirst.  Below are a few of my favorite summer cocktails sure to be a hit at your next summer soire.

    pina-martini

Ginger Pineapple Heaven (seriously is like heaven in a glass)

    Canton Ginger

    Pineapple juice

    Pineapple slice

Mix 1 part Canton Liquer, 2 parts pineapple juice in a martini shaker with ice. Shake and pour.  Garnish with a pineapple chunk. Experience heaven.

    champagne-260o

    St. Germain Cocktail

    St. Germain

White wine (I suggest something dry)

    Club Soda

Fill glass with ice. Add one part St. Germain, 2 parts white wine, and a splash of club soda. Note: Can also be made using prosecco.

    The John Daly (Get it??)

    Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka

    Lemonade

Fill a glass with ice. Pour in 1/2 Firefly Vodka, 1/2 lemonade. Stir and enjoy. For an extra kick, you can add a splash of club soda.

    Kiki’s Special Sangria

**This is a (very) loose take on the sangria from Trata in Water Mill.  You can get the recipe for their sangria, but they have some very unique ingredients that are basically impossible to find.

    4 bottles Sauvignon Blanc

    1 bottle White Zinfandel

    10 oz. Triple Sec

    6 oz. 7 Star Brandy

    1 cup sugar

    6 oz. Pomegranate juice

    6 oz. 7Up

Fresh fruit cut into cubes or small slices.  You can use whatever you like, but realize it will effect the way your sangria tastes. Apples, pears, grapes, pineapple, mango all work well.

Combine all wine, liquor and sugar in a large glass container. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add fruit, pomegranate juice, and 7up and stir again. Refrigerate over night for flavors to combine. (If you can’t wait that long- it’s still fine to drink right away).

  1. One of my new finds this summer is the Gin Mule. You should give it a try.

    2 oz Gin (Plymouth preferably)
    3/4 oz fresh lime juice
    1/4 oz simple syrup
    5 mint leaves

Mix everything in a shaker and strain into a tall glass filled with ice. Then top it off with Ginger beer (Regatta is the best. Reed’s is a close second)

Sub vodka for gin and you’ve made yourself a Moscow Mule. If you want more ideas check out http://www.liqurious.com

  2. [...] nice rooftop 3. Buy cooler, beer, and mixes for margaritas and strawberry daiquiris (or try some of WhyDid’s favorite summer beverages) and voila! You’ve found yourself miles away from Manhattan all the while still being right in [...]
