Alpinestars, that is.

Alpinestars was originally started over 40 years ago (1963 to be exact) making motorcycle gear for serious riders, but has now evolved into the rocker chick’s new bff and go to brand. Designer Denise Focil has created edgy basics and key item pieces that every hip girl needs in her closet.

The line is a collection of sexy, slouchy tops, vintage T’s, skinny denim, and, of course, leather motorcycle jackets. Already, the line has a serious celebrity following too (Kirsten Dunst, Blake Lively, Whitney Port, Taylor Momsen, Audrina Patridge). Be warned, this is not a line designed with wallflowers in mind.

Beauty Buzz: Nailed It!

You may or may not be like me, but I have real issues keeping my nails looking presentable. I think there is actually something wrong with my nails because without fail every time I paint them/get a manicure my nails are chipped within 48 hours. Every single time. Though sometimes I still walk around sporting my chipped nails, I realized that I don’t look like a grown up or professional with my wonky nails. So what is a girl to do? Leave my nails au naturale? Yuck. Go for tri-weekly manicures? No thanks. I’m far too impatient to sit and let the paint dry.

Ah-ha! I have found the solution to my problems. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Fast Dry Nail Color. It dries in 60 seconds (no lie, it does) and looks great with just one coat. The brush is big so it basically covers your nail in two strokes and it comes in 24 different shades (I chose Petal Pusher). So now, when my nails chip in .45 seconds, I can just repaint them in 60 seconds 🙂

I also love these portable nail polish remover pads from Cutex. Pack your nail polish and remover in your bag and you’ve got a manicure on the go. Never again will I have ugly nails!

Why Did You Wear That: Blizzards and Bikinis

I figure there is no better time than in the middle of a blizzard to give a little lesson in bikinis. So what if there is 10 inches of snow in NY? No time like the present to start thinking about warm weather and teeny bikinis…

I consider myself somewhat of an expert in the field of swimwear and I feel that many women don’t know what kind of bathing suits actually look good on them, which totally frustrates me. Plus, I do realize that for some (okay most of us) bathing suit shopping can be somewhat traumatic. Especially after hibernating all winter long. So here are a few guidelines to keep in mind while shopping for this season’s swimsuit:

The most common and most annoying mistake women make is thinking that just because they have a bigger booty, they need to wear bigger bottoms (i.e. more fabric, more coverage). Ehhh!! You are so wrong. Guess what more fabric does to your butt? Emphasizes how big it is. Ever notice how Brazilian women always look amazing in their bikinis? Their bikini bottoms are cut smaller making their bottoms look smaller. (Yes, Brazilian women are hot and live on the beach so they know the tricks of the trade). So do not, I repeat, do not go out and grab the biggest pair of bottoms you see in order to cover your rump. You are only calling more attention to the area you are trying to disguise. (Not to mention you will give yourself a case of what my BFF and I so lovingly refer to as “LA” (Long Ass)).
