Why Did You Wear That: Baby, You’re a Firework

By |July 4th, 2013|Personal Style|

This year’s Fourth of July couldn’t have fallen more perfectly on the calendar.  A four day weekend?  God bless, is right.  This, however, led many to stress out over where they’d spend such a fortuitous long weekend.  I couldn’t even begin to tell you where I was last year during the Fourth.  I’ve given it a bit of thought, and I have zero recollection.  Sadly, that has no correlation to the amount of fun that was had.  The year before, I watched fireworks alone on my rooftop, simply because it was less frightening to hear the fireworks if I could actually see them.  To be honest, fireworks scare me, but I also have an irrational fear of dragonflies, so it doesn’t hold much weight.  I do, however, love the ol’ US of A despite all its flaws.  I’ve never been one to wear a Christmas sweater or paint my face for a football game, but I do think it’s nice to give a patriotic nod to our great United States by adding a bit of red, white, and blue to your holiday ensemble– in a totally non-obvious manner, of course.

Beauty Buzz: Star Spangled Beauty

american flag makeupAlright, so you can’t even begin to stomach strapping on a star studded tank top or holiday color coordinated outfit.  That’s fine.  Just don’t be a totally Sally Suckpants refusing to play along whatsoever.  Incorporate a little bit of your American pride this Fourth of July by wearing the colors of our flag on your face (and nails).  Navy liner rimming your lids, cherry red lips, and a slick white manicure will have people believing Lenny Kravitz wrote American Woman for you- and why shouldn’t they?

Setting the Mood: God Bless…

By |July 1st, 2013|Setting the Mood|

fourth of july fashionAt times I may complain that ol’ US of A has gone down the sh…. I feel blessed to live in a country where what I say, do, wear, and think can’t really be censored… well, for the meantime, at least.  I believe Congress is working on that.  Sure there are Kardashians and fast food chains, but for the most part, the United States of America is what so many people dream of, work for, and aspire to be.  Perhaps we should remember where we came from and attempt to become model citizens of the great states of America…again.  Let’s make Abe and George proud.  Bake that apple pie, put on your best red, white, and blue, and celebrate… we’re Americans, ya’ll.

WhyDid and Win: Flirty and Thirty with Cosabella

By |June 25th, 2013|WhyDid and Win|

whydid cosabella contest

Shouldn’t come as news that I’m semi obsessed with lingerie, delicate underpinnings, and basically anything lace.  Whether anyone besides Smitty sees it, doesn’t really matter.  Knowing  I’m wearing something beautiful and feminine under there is the ultimate confidence booster –and there is no brand more flirty or feminine than Cosabella.  I was first introduced to the brand while buying lingerie for Henri Bendel and needless to say, I’ve been a fan ever since.  The Soire Soft Bra is my go to for steamy summer nights.  In honor of thirty years of sexy (not me, silly), Cosabella and WhyDid are giving you a chance to win 3 Panty Pack from their newest addition, Trenta.

The new must-have group celebrates Cosabella’s 30 Years of Color and innovation! The fine lace of Trenta is shaped to lay flat on the body for a seamless effect. It features styles in all-over delicate lace and styles in smooth microfiber mixed with lace galloons and insets. The thong wraps your body smoothly with a single back seam to enhance comfort and emphasize the delicateness of the lace.

So say goodbye to VPL and enter for your chance to win by following WhyDid and Cosabella and using the hashtag, #Cosabella30.

Good luck, bellas!

Setting the Mood: It Was All a Dream

By |June 24th, 2013|Setting the Mood|

This past weekend marked the official beginning of summer as well that whole super moon phenomenon.  Busy weekend, eh, Mother Nature?  If you’re less of a recluse than I, you may have found yourself celebrating a little something called Midsummer.  Now, I’m not sure why exactly it would be considered “midsummer” if it is, in fact, the first official day of summer or summer solstice.  I’m not here to be the fun police though, so whatever the case may be, I like what they’re selling and I’ll buy it.  There is no better time to deem yourself a gypsy or child of the flowers by adding some floral accessories to your tiny tanks and flowing skirts.  Grab your flower crowns, girls (or make one like I did) and start shimmying.  It’s officially summertime, ya’ll.
