Setting the Mood: Sunshine State of Mind

By |April 23rd, 2012|Setting the Mood|

florida inspiration boardWhen I picked up and fled the left coast, I didn’t book a return ticket.  I really had no plans, but ended up landing in the sunny state of Florida.  I didn’t know how long I’d stay or what I planned on doing, but it was an escape and a good one at that.  Being surrounded by beautiful weather and scenery and even more beautiful friends proved to be just the right dosage of vitamin D (sunshine) and vitamin C (Florida oranges, of course) to get me back on my feet.  I sometimes forget that my roots are actually right here in Florida.  I spent the majority of my youth growing up in the Sunshine State.  Maybe it’s because I’ve moved around so much that it seems so foreign or that any time I’ve come back to visit, it hasn’t been for more than a long weekend.  However, being back for an extended period of time, I’ve found that it all still resonates with me.  I remember the school field trips to Cape Canaveral, the family road trips to Disney, running barefoot in the backyard and collecting hermit crabs in the Indian River.  I’m leaving again in a week and I don’t really know what is up next, but I can’t say I won’t be back.  Perhaps when I said I was coming home, I really meant here?  Stay tuned…
