Beauty Buzz: Petal Perfect
Written by: WhyDid | Beauty Buzz

flower-fashion-makeupIt’s officially spring.  Fi.nal.ly.  It’s time to swap out the wardrobe and the beauty routine for something lighter and brighter.  No longer will you need to lubricate yourself with heavy creams and deep sultry scents.  Spring is all about being fresh, playful, and pretty.  Thankfully, beauty brands love flowers as much as any girl loves to receive them.  Whether it be harnessing the superpowers of rose petals or the capturing the sweet scent of jasmine, there’s no end to the way in which one can incorporate flora into her regimen.  And and aren’t you just as pretty as a petal?

Beauty Buzz: Star Spangled Beauty
Written by: WhyDid | Beauty Buzz

american flag makeupAlright, so you can’t even begin to stomach strapping on a star studded tank top or holiday color coordinated outfit.  That’s fine.  Just don’t be a totally Sally Suckpants refusing to play along whatsoever.  Incorporate a little bit of your American pride this Fourth of July by wearing the colors of our flag on your face (and nails).  Navy liner rimming your lids, cherry red lips, and a slick white manicure will have people believing Lenny Kravitz wrote American Woman for you- and why shouldn’t they?

1. Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee in True Red, 2. Ciaté Paint Pot in Mistress, 3. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Red Orange Shellac, 4. Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Scorch, 5. Beauty Buzz: Poolside Packing

You’ve packed your weekender, polished your fingers and toes and gotten that dreaded Brazilian (you have, haven’t you?) Get thyself to a waxer, woman.  The next hurdle you’ll face over the holiday weekend is preparing the perfectly equipped beach bag.  There’s nothing worse than trotting all the way down to the beach, finding the perfect spot and then realizing you forgot your sunscreen.  That’s a valuable fifteen minutes of Vitamin D and boyscouting that you’ll be missing while fetching your forgotten goods.  Below I’ve created the First Aid Kit of beach bags so you can spend more time playing beach blanket bingo with that babe on the chaise next to you and less time retrieving your lip balm.

1. Mar Y Sol Caracas Basket Tote, 2. Yves Saint Laurent Oversized Round Sunglasses, 3. Henri Bendel Wet Bikini Bag, 4. Jonathan Adler Stepped Diamonds Earbuds, 5. Miracle Skin Transformer Lip Rewind Advanced Peptide Lip Treatment SPF 20, 6. Murad Waterproof Sunblock SPF 30, 7. Henri Bendel Under the Sun Towel with Strap, 8. Josie Maran Bohemian Waves Argan Hair Mist

Bingo!

Beauty Buzz: Five Product (and Minute) Face
Written by: WhyDid | Beauty Buzz

five minute makeupI mentioned before that less is more when it comes to cosmetics, but sadly the winter has a way of making you fall prey to caked on bronzer and and extra swipe of liner to make you feel like you look human.  And fall I did.  However, as the sun has started to shine again and my skin has begun to glow, I’m back to the bare bone basics.  I can not express to you enough how many (male) compliments I receive when I wear barely there makeup.  Groomed brows, berry stained lips and cheeks, and a healthy skin tone are the look that garners all the glances.  Five products and literally five minutes is all it takes to have you looking perfectly polished and oh so pretty.

1. Laura Geller Spackle Tinted Under Makeup Primer in Bronze, 2. Benefit Benetint, 3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Ash Blonde, 4. Benefit They’re Real Mascara, 5. Josie Maran Argan Infinity Cream Intensive Creamy Oil

You’re welcome.

Setting the Mood: Such a Beach.
Written by: WhyDid | Setting the Mood

beachy hairWith temperatures upwards of ninety, It’s been nearly impossible to keep hair frizz free, let alone poker straight.  The mere thought of standing in a tiny bathroom with a blowdryer fighting against my natural curl pattern is enough to have me contemplating pulling a Demi a la GI Jane.  Seeing as I do not have the bone structure to pull off a buzz cut, I have to deal with my tempestuous tresses in another fashion.  I’d like to go ahead and thank the Olsens for making crazy, messy, hair en vogue.  I’d then like to give myself a little pat on the back for keeping the messy hair momentum going.  Summer is the perfect time to let your hair go wild, much like your weekends.  Should you not be freshly emerging from the sea like a golden goddess, there are luckily a few tools that will give you the look of sea salted, windblown mermaid hair.

beach wave toolsAlterna Summer Hair Ocean Waves Texturizing Spray, $20Sultra Bombshell Curling Iron, $130, Josie Maran Bohemian Waves Argan Hair Mist, $22, Helen of Troy 3 in 1 Styling Iron, $69.99
