Why Did You Wear That: Summer Skimming

By |May 28th, 2013|Why Did You Wear That?|

Okay, so you couldn’t track down those Chanel espadrilles that every blogger under the sun has been spotted sporting, or maybe you couldn’t fathom throwing down upwards of $400 on summer flats.  Perhaps, like me, you prefer to stand out rather than blend in with the masses.  In any case, this summer’s perfect flat to run around town (or the boardwalk) in is the flat espadrille.  A welcome change (for me, at least) from the standard ballet flat, a lifesaver in between pedicures, and a more polished option than flip flops, it’s time for you to grab a pair or two of your own.  Check out the pair above that I procured (and posted on my Instagram) for summer skimming.

Friday Frocks: Festival Ready

By |April 12th, 2013|Friday Frocks|

bohemianWhether you’re planning on getting down and dirty at a music festival or just bopping around town running errands this weekend, there is no better time than now to channel your inner Stevie Nicks.  You know she’s been itching to get out.  The look is effortlessly feminine with just a little bit of edge.  Take it easy with the footwear, opting for flat sandals or suede booties and leave hair loose and tousled.  Layer long necklaces and don’t be afraid to load on the bangles.

Why Did You Wear That: Stay Fly

By |July 18th, 2012|Why Did You Wear That?|

flying paper airplaneThe worst part about traveling to me is the process (followed in close second by packing).  Getting through the airport is a simple form of hell.  Having to stand barefoot in security is bad enough, but the mere thought of my skin touching the seat freaks me out (FYI- I have the same problem with movie theaters).  The short answer to this problem would be to layer on as much protective layers as possible, but in case you missed the memo, it’s hot out.  So what does one wear when it’s 95 degrees and about 1000% humidity?  Here’s a hint:  It’s absolutely NOT a Juicy tracksuit.

airport attire1. Forever 21 Metallic Trapeze Tank, $15.80, 2. Urban Renewal Gauze Bell Bottom Pant, $39.00, 3. Sam Edelman Gigi T Strap Sandals, $70, 4. alice + olivia Phoebe Mid Length Slim Dress, $176, 5. Cooperative Applique Ballet Flat, $34, 6. KAIN Label Pocket Tank, $80, 7. Forever 21 Sheer Abstract Maxi Skirt, $13.50, 8. Ecote Soleil Thong Sandal, $29, 9. Gucci Round Frame Metal Sunglasses, $325, 10. Dorothy Perkins Black Flyaway Cardigan, $29, 11.  See by Chloe Ambre Big Tote, $550

Please remember that you can be comfortable without  wearing printed pajama pants to the airport.  Pull yourself together, sister… you never who might be in the next seat.

Stay fly.

Friday Frocks: Tee Time

By |June 15th, 2012|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

tee shirtsFridays are meant to be casual… as are the weekends.  And while we may strap ourselves into the tightest tops, shortest skirts, and highest heels for a night out, I, for one, can not wait to get home and get out of my constricting couture and slip into something much more comfortable.  Enter the t-shirt dress.  Remember those sleep shirts you wore as a kid?  Might have been your dad’s or just an oversized tee with your favorite band (NKOTB).  Now, you can take your favorite slouchy tee to the streets by sporting this casual yet chic style.

Would You Wednesday: Thigh’s the Limit

By |May 16th, 2012|Why Did or Why Don't?|

angelina jolie anja rubik slitFirst it was side boob, now it’s the extreme leg slit.  Seems like ladies are looking for any place they can to show off a little bit of skin.  The first to really give it a go was Angelina Jolie at the Oscars.  Her leg caused such a stir that it got its own Twitter account.  She was not to be outdone by the beautiful Anja Rubik at this year’s Met Gala.  Her slit was dangerously high, though I doubt anyone’s complaining.  So, are legs the new side boob which were, of course, the new cleavage?

thigh slit skirtsEcote Double Slit Skirt, $69, Helmut Kinetic Jersey Slit Front Skirt, $160, Rick Owens Lilies Drape Maxi Skirt, $580, Nightcap Clothing Thigh High Skirt, $143

So would you wear a slit way up there to your derriere?
