Red Carpet Recap: Childhood Favorites

teen choice awards red carpet

If you weren’t watching The Bachelorette finale last night, it was obviously only because you were watching this year’s Teen Choice Awards.  Known to be the more squeaky clean of award shows, Hollywood’s youngest stars came out in droves in hopes of collecting that shiny surfboard.  Well, I don’t really care too much who wins what, I’m really just focused on who wore what.  What came to my attention as I gathered images for this recap was that while some of Hollywood’s hottest looked downright adorable, perhaps others were taking that whole wholesome look to extremes.  It would appear some of the ladies were channeling their favorite childhood characters.  (To be fair, I had to Google 89% of these people.  I guess that’s what happens when you are middle aged).

Friday Frocks: Take the Plunge

Alright, so the chances of taking a swan dive into clear blue waters at this time of year are probably slim to none for most of us… but that doesn’t mean you can’t take the plunge this fall.  Step away from the high dive and step over to your closet.  A deep v neckline is one heck of a way to make an entrance into any holiday party.  Just don’t forget your double sided tape!

Friday Frocks: In the Navy

We all have a go to LBD, but have you ever thought about swapping it out for a LND (little navy dress)?  The ladies of the Navy (or the WAVES) certainly do look snazzy in the crisp color. Navy looks great with metallics, nudes, and grey and despite what you may think… Navy can even be paired with black (as shown in dress #9).

Friday Frocks: Show and Pas-tell

The other day my dad was complaining that people don’t dress up for Easter like they used to.  While people certainly have become more casual, he’s probably just spoiled due to my mother’s extreme outfits that she put her children in for the holiday.  For as long as I can remember (until I had a say in the matter) I recall being strapped into an easter bonnet, fluffy dress, ruffled socks or tights, and some form of jazzy shoes (I wish I had pictures).  When I talk about the Easter bonnet, I’m not talking about the run of the mill eyelet cap, I’m talking about fresh flowers sewn in to match my dress.  My mother is no joke.

So, while you may not have the time (or interest) in sewing flowers to your cap, there’s no reason you can’t get into the holiday spirit by  prancing around this Easter Sunday in one of these flirty pastel frocks.  They’re enough to make the Easter Bunny blush:

1. Contrarian Barbara Bib Dress, $381, 2. Forever 21 Floral Sweetheart Tube Dress, $19.80, 3. Gianni Bini Della Dress, $138, 4. Wyatt Ivory Chiffon Big Rose Print Dress, $84.15, 5. Amanda Uprichard Joan Dress, $194, 6. Roxy Full Time Dress, $39.50, 7. Free People Flutter Away Striped Dress, $98, 8. Top Shop Pleated Neck Dress by Love, $76

Hoppy Easter!
