By |November 21st, 2014|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

types of plaid One of the fastest ways to get dressed and stay on trend this holiday season is in a festive plaid frock.  Whether, knit, flannel, or flowing tunic, there are several ways to get yourself checked out in plaid.  Try wearing with tights and boots or under a tough leather jacket.

Why Did You Wear That: Coach at LensCrafters

By |July 19th, 2012|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

kirsten smith lenscrafters coachYou know one thing that I love to do is read.  As a little girl the library and the book store were two of my favorite places to get lost in.  Yes, I was that kid who was excited for library class.  Dewey decimal system, what?  Well, as I got older, I found that I had an astigmatism and was going to need to wear glasses.  I tried wearing contacts, but the thought of touching my eyeballs freaked me out, so fantastic frames it was!

kirsten smith glassesOver the past couple of years, the stigma of eyeglasses has gone right out the window.  As a matter of fact, glasses have become downright trendy.  Non vision impaired ladies have started sporting eyewear and even celebrities have been seen walking the red carpet in their glasses.  Perhaps it’s due to designers creating styles that are not only comfortable, but totally chic.  Enter Coach at LensCrafters.  Talk about a perfect pairing!  Now you can get the best in eye care along with the best in fashion.  I love the look of the Cecilia frames in tortoise.  The slight cat eye shape gives just the right amount of retro feel for my reading and the pop of green inside makes them anything but boring.

Who says men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses?

Real People, Real Style: Pure Parfet-tion

By |May 3rd, 2009|Real People Real Style|

This California girl is a real natural beauty (and another east coast transplant).  Her eclectic style is the epitome of east meets west.

Name: Katie Parfet

Wearing: vintage black party dress, vintage Cole Haan lace up boots, J. Crew grey cardigan, vintage black Coach shoulder bag

Occupation: Ambassador of Sole, TOMS Shoes

Hometown: Pelham, New York

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and your bag was only big enough for 3 items, what would they be? cherry chapstick (because I’m addicted), the perfect pair of jean cut-offs, and a good fashion magazine… I mean book.

Favorite beauty product: Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. Any day  now I’m going to learn to apply makeup…

Style icon: My grandmother.

This summer I can’t wait to wear: TOMS Shoes Cordones line (Hipper TOMS, with laces!)

Style tip for all the fashion degenerates: If you’re showing major leg, cover up on top and vice versa.

Best Splurge (it was worth every penny): Pauric Sweeney black overnight purse. Great for an everyday computer tote or airport carry-on.

Trend you’d like to see die: Orange spray tans ruin even the prettiest of outfits.

Currently coveting: an unfussy floral dress that won’t wrinkle in my suitcase.  Looking forward to scooping one up in New York next weekend.

Fun fact: it’s my birthday!

Biggest personal fashion flop: wearing leggings more days than not this winter.

Tisk tisk on the leggings, Katie lady, but we’ll let it slide.  We love that you put your heart and “sole” into your style.
