Girl Crush: Full of Glee

By |February 24th, 2011|Celebrity Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

I can not lie, I don’t watch Glee.  However, one young lady keeps showing up on red carpets and catching my attention: Dianna Agron.  Apparently she plays Quinn, a perky and somewhat promiscuous cheerleader and glee club member (again, I don’t follow the show).  With her all American good looks, Agron fits the part of cheerleading queen bee perfectly.  While she pulls off the fresh faced bouncing ponytail look with ease, what really impresses me is the way she transforms herself from pink cheeks and shiny pout to smoky eye and sexy updo.

Agron has managed to merge pretty with edgy.  She pairs classic Chanel couture with smudgy cat eyes and rocker hair.  While she isn’t going to go down in history as a style icon, she is the absolute perfect mix of sugar and spice.

Want to put a little pep in your step?  Try a few of these Agron inspired pieces.  Add her favorite Chanel lipstick and polish to take even your sweetest ensemble to the next level and always be sure to have that good girl glow with Benetint’s Posietint.

Top (L to R): Rebecca Minkoff Rumi Dress, $425, Chanel le vernis Nail Color, $25, Christian Louboutin Rolando Patent Leather Platform Pumps, $695,  Volcom Time Lines Striped Tank Dress, $38, Bottom (L to R): Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Color, $35, American Apparel Plaid Chiffon Double Layered Shirred Waist Skirt, $42, Nanette Lepore Latin Lover Dress, $348, Benefit Posietint, $28

Beauty Buzz: Five Minute Face

By |November 11th, 2010|Beauty Buzz|

Seeing as most of us are not movie stars or celebrities, there is no need to walk around with a cake face of perfect makeup on a daily basis. However, there is also no need to look like a walking zombie. To arrive at a happy  medium, follow these five easy steps with five fantastic products that will have you fresh faced and out the door in five minutes.

  1. After cleansing your face and applying your favorite moisturizer, it’s time to smooth out any flaws (as if you have any!). A tinted moisturizer or a mineral powder to cover up shine are great options.Philosophy The Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas SPF 15, $35
  2. Once you’re all smooth and seamless, it’s times to add a little color to those cheeks. My favorites still remain Benefit Benetint ($28) and Nars The Multiple in Orgasm . Nars The Multiple in Orgasm, $38
  3. Now that you’re glowing, it’s time to focus on your beautiful peepers. Added bonus of Nars The Multiple? It can be used on your lids! Once you’ve smoothed some color onto your lids, it’s time to define your brows. Revlon ColorStay Brow Enhancer, $8.99
  4. Finish off your eyes by brushing on a coat of  your favorite mascara. Dior Show is a tried and true.
Dior Dior Show Blackout Mascara, $24
  5. Last, but most definitely not least, pucker up. (Bonus time: Benetint can also be used on your lips for a berry stained pout). Slick on your favorite gloss and you’re good to go!

Beauty Buzz: You Glow, Girl

By |May 22nd, 2010|Beauty Buzz|

Are you glowing like a young woman in love? Just radiating from the inside out with all the joy in your heart? No? Me neither. Luckily, for us, there’s a quick and easy way to fake that gorgeous glow. As mentioned before, I’m obsessed with Benetint to stain my lips and cheeks. Well, the people over at Benefit have really outdone themselves.

Benefit High Beam, $24

This little miracle in a bottle is perfect for adding some shine to your cheeks and brows to show off that perfect bone structure of yours. You can also go all out and blend over your entire face for that “dewy” look. Just don’t over do it. The point it is to look fresh faced, not freaky. This is a perfect pick me up when that cup of yerba mate is just not doing the trick. (I gave up coffee, remember?).

So, while you may not have a stomach full of love butterflies, at least you’ll look like you do. Don’t forget, like attracts like.

Beauty Buzz: Easy as 1, 2, 3

Ashley_Tisdale-_November_27_2009

So, as I sipped on a soy chai latte the other day with a friend, we discussed how so many girls just don’t bother pulling it together when venturing into public. I mean, I get it, you are just running to do Duane Reade, no need for a full face of makeup and a blow out. But really? Take that scrunchie out of your hair and change out of your sweats (btw- leggings are STILL NOT pants- even when running to DR).

There are basically three things you need to make yourself look presentable: eyes, cheeks, lips.

Eyes

The wonders that mascara can do for your are immeasurable. Just a couple swipes of the wand and now your eyes are wide awake and your lashes are full (all the better to bat them with, my dear).  Take note on how much faster your prescription will get filled.

300Max Factor, 2000 Calorie Mascara, $6.29

I’ve tried them all and I always come back to Max Factor. Tried and true.

Cheeks

Whether you opt to dust your face with bronzer or dab a little pink on your cheeks, you will immediately go from looking dead to looking divine.

182789Nars, The Multiple, $37

Add some shine with this handy little stick. Can even be used on your eyelids for some color.

2160251Benefit, Benetint, $28

Get rosy cheeks in an instant with this cheek stain which also can double as a lip stain.

Lips

Top off the look with a little shimmer on your lips. Pretty basic and people will clearly want to pucker up with you when they see your pretty pout.

P44800_hero Sephora Brand, Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss, $10

Cheap and comes in a million different shades that will flatter any skin type. Summer Crush is a fave of mine.

There are enough crazy looking people running around New York. You don’t need to be one of them. Besides, you never know who you may meet while picking up some TP at DR. Just sayin…
