It sorta seems like life went ahead and decided to cram as much as possible into the last few months of the year. Sort of like it forgot and then was like, “Oh crap! We gotta do all this.” So, that keeps ladies like you and me pretty busy. In between all of the end of year festivities, we still need to find time to run those never ending errands. They sure don’t take a holiday, do they? This is where that whole “fashion vs function” argument comes into play. Is it ever possible to be both? You may only associate the blazer as a piece of clothing worn by uptight businessmen and those ladies who wear white sneakers on their commute to work, but I’d like to let you in on a little style secret. The blazer is far less boring and uptight than you think it is. As a matter of fact, a blazer can go great for a laid back weekend running errands or a night out on the town with your girlfriends. Girl Crush: Go Play a Video Game

In case you haven’t already been sucked in by her first single, Video Games, this sultry songstress is Lana del Rey. Though there is much speculation as to whether she is a product of her management and as to where exactly she came from (she was formerly known as Lizzy Grant)- one thing is for sure: girlfriend can sing. Her sound is like nothing else out there and her voice is utterly intoxicating. As if her vocal chops aren’t enough, she is strikingly gorgeous with doe eyes and voluptuous lips (also much speculation on those). Her self described style is “Gangster Nancy Sinatra.” She sports big hair and big accessories– and in this case, bigger is definitely better.

Why Did You Wear That: Putting on the Glitz

You know how much I love sequin shorts, but fall calls for something a little warmer… yet just as sparkly. Lucky, lucky me (and you) they have these things called sequin leggings. While leggings are still not pants and these particular leggings aren’t for everyday wear, these babies are pretty fantastic and sure to turn a few (hundred) heads. I like this look as an alternative to the “woman wearing a tux” thing. It’s also a great option for a slightly less dressy than cocktail attire, but definitely more fancy than denim. With all the upcoming holiday parties and festivities, who doesn’t need another alternative to the LBD?

Little details like a beautiful bangle and bow tie headband complete this party approved look. Pile hair atop your head in a top notch top knot and slick on some shiny red lipstick. You’ll be ready to party in no time flat. Want to recreate this look for your next social gathering?

Three of my favorite looks from this week all have something in common. They are all great transitional outfits. As much as I hate to say it, summer is in its final stretch and fall is fast approaching. During this time of year, it’s always tricky trying to figure out what to put on– or take off. The weather is as temperamental as a woman with PMS and no M&M’s. The only way to get your look right during this time of year is by layering up.
