On a gorgeous NY day like today (82 degrees and about 536% humidity), I feel like we need a little brightening up of our wardrobes. One of the fastest ways to bring a little sunshine into your life is by dressing yourself in something floral. Flowers always make me think of warm weather, butterflies, and rainbows (okay, maybe not that much… but you get where I’m headed).  In a world full of black and grey, why not be you very own ray of sunshine?  Be sure to anchor your pretty pattern with solids. No need to overwhelm. Don’t want any weeds in your glorious garden.

As mentioned, one of my favorite Spring trends was the presence of underwear peaking out of outerwear. We spend a lot of money on fine unmentionables and they barely get to see the light of day. (And in my case, only sweet, sweet Smitty gets to see them). Sometimes you gotta give your tittays a rest and a pretty wireless lace bra is just the way to do it. Some people call them “weekend bras” or “sleep bras,” I just call them “hot.” My favorite way to wear one? Peaking out of a slinky, slouchy tank, of course.

party-in-my-pants-costumeYou know I like nothing more than a party in my pants, so it should come as no surprise that I’m a big fan of shiny pants.  We used to associate sequins with tragic prom dresses and Liza Minelli, but now sequins can be worn “just because.”  Dress down your sequins with a casual tee and heels and dance the night away. Why shouldn’t you be the life of the party?

You may wonder why I have not included a sequin top in my picks… it’s because they actually give me heartburn. I’m all about sequins in an unexpected pop, not as a blaring disco ball across your chest. You can have too much of a good thing.

At times I feel like I may have been a rocker in my past life. I like wild hair, smudgey eyeliner, loud music, and leather. But alas, my goldilocks looks prevent me from looking very edgey so I have to work against my all-American appearance by incorporating some tougher pieces into my wardrobe.  Since the majority of my time is, unfortunately, not spent scissor kicking on stage and smashing guitars, I have to do “rocker chic” in small doses. This means picking one or two pieces at a time and working them into my outfit to kick it up a notch. One of the easiest ways to do so, is adding something studded. Below are some suggestions of items that could be added to anyone’s closet to take you from Joan Collins to Joan Jett.

Ever had one of those dreams where you are just wandering around totally naked and wake up in complete panic a la Kiki Dunst in Bring It On?

Well, I’m about to make those dreams come true… in a good way. If you recall, I was wild about the amount of nudes and neutrals that flooded the spring runways. Now that the heat is here and you’ve established your base tan (with use of a good self tanner, I hope!), it’s your turn to test out this trend.  When working with a blank palette, you can perk things up by accessorizing with punches of color whether it be showcasing a stunning pair of shoes or killer jewelry.

I’ve again done my due dilligence by digging up some of the sexiest ways to wear this season’s most naked trend:
