While crochet is often associated with granola loving tree huggers or the back of your granny’s couch in doily form, it appears to be making quite the comeback and doing so quite stylishly.  So, you can go ahead and put down the Kashi and prunes.  Sure, sure, you could take it up as a new hobby.  There are enough books out there to teach yourself how to craft up your very own crochet creation… but who really has time for that?  Besides, there are plenty or pretty options already available and you won’t have to risk chipping a nail.  Crochet makes for great accessories or a sexy (knotty?) beach coverup.  The open weave gives you just enough skin showing and I mean, talk about ventilation.

With the arrival of summer comes the arrival of outdoor music festivals.  The first of which to kick things off is Coachella.  Coachella is not only one of the bigger music festivals, it’s one of the most photographed.  Let’s just say it’s a sartorialist’s wet dream.  The look is usually a bit boho meets Beverly Hills, but some have taken the hippy dippy look to extremes.  I can’t say I’ve ever had the desire to camp out for three days with no working plumbing, but if you happen to be someone who favors the port-o-potty over pate, then perhaps you’re headed out that way this weekend.  If that’s the case, you may be thinking, “What to wear?  What to wear?”  Well, I’ve come up with three looks that are sure to have you looking like you’re with the band.  (Just please do me a favor and keep your shoes on).

While some of you may only look forward to the Easter season for those delicious Cadbury cream eggs and Peeps, others take this day pretty seriously.  For instance, my mother.  For as long as I had no say in the matter, my mom decked me out from head to toe (literally).  She didn’t just stop with a pretty pastel frock for Sunday service.  She went as far as sewing fresh flowers into my bonnet and that little handbag I was holding.  She was at least kind enough to tuck away some jelly beans in my bag so as to keep me quiet during all those songs at church.  Did I mention I’m tone deaf?  Anyway, if you’re anything like my mom, you’re probably looking to deck yourself out this Sunday.  Lucky for you (and the Easter bunny), everything pastel and floral is right on trend this spring and you should have no trouble at all finding something pretty to wear.   And for my non-Easter celebrating friends, Happy Passover.  Chag Sameach.

Remember back when I  invited you to the Pants Party?  Well, you knew I was going to RSVP “YES” to my own party.  Duh.  So, I found a pair of pretty awesome floral jeans at Zara (that were only $60!) and paired them with one of my favorite slouchy Kain tanks so as not to look too prissy, pretty, pretty princess-like.  (I don’t like to blow my cover too early).  This outfit is perfect for hanging out casually or could be a great date outfit with some strappy heels and shiny accessories.  I opted to lounge in the sunshine and slip my shoes off.  I “topped” it off with a big ol’ top knot.

This past weekend, three of Tinsletown’s loveliest ladies were all seen sporting a little bit of bare midriff while walking the red (err… orange?) carpet.  This bit of belly is different from the crop tops of a couple summers past.  It’s not so much belly button as it is rib cage.  It’s the teeniest little peek-a-boo of skin that is both sexy and playful.  It’s less Christina Aguilera Genie in a Bottle and a bit more Gidget Goes Hawaiian.  And for anyone who was ever a bit self conscious about showing some torso, don’t worry.  This is much more wearable and will keep that fearsome FUPA under wraps.

While some are referring to these as “bralettes” that’s not quite the right term.  (Did I not already school you in bralettes?).  I would consider these to be cropped bustier tops.  You’ll have much more luck when searching using those terms.  The trick to this look is pairing your teeny top with a high waisted skirt or slacks.  That way your outfit will read “le petite coquette” rather than “big dirty whore.”
