How To Tuesday: Power Clash Like a Pro

By |April 9th, 2013|How To Tuesday|

And finally spring has sprung.  The weather’s warmed up and it’s time to do a little bit of rearranging of our closets.  Now, before you get all kinds of crazy trashing everything in your armoire, take a moment to consider taking part in the power clashing trend of spring.  What’s power clashing, you ask?  Well, instead of sticking with the stigma that you can’t wear two patterns at once, embrace bold prints and double down.  There are a few rules though (always rules), so check out the video below to keep you on the right track.

Setting the Mood: Pastel Me Again

By |March 25th, 2013|Setting the Mood|

pastel inpsiration boardPunxsutawney Phil may be getting sued, but technically speaking, spring is upon us.  And speaking of groundhogs, one trend for spring that is making a repeat appearance is pastel.  Everything from shoes to shades to even hair is taking on the hues of your favorite summer sunset or bag of Sweet Tarts… whichever you prefer (but really, why choose?).  So get your girly girl on by stepping into spring’s sweetest trend, but remember, just like downing that entire bag of Sweet Tarts, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.  Except for sunsets.  There can never be enough sunsets.

Why Did You Wear That: Hats Off

By |March 5th, 2013|Why Did You Wear That?|

spring 2013 trend baseball hatIt’s happened to the best of us, the alarm goes off and you push snooze one too many times.  A can’t be missed last minute invite arrives.  You’ve got a lot of shhh to do and not a lot of time to do it.  Your hair is a real problem and a trip to Dry Bar just isn’t in your immediate future.  Fortunately for you, there’s a very stylish new way to cover up the grease that you’ve amassed on your scalp.  Enter the street style favorite of the season, the baseball cap.  You know the “hat trick” is one of my favorite dirty hairy disguises and finally there’s a fun new way to wear one.

Forget t-ball and cleats, the look is actually quite feminine when paired with skinny jeans or trousers and a semi tailored top.  Whether worn with heels, boots, or designer sneakers, remember to offset the tomboy tone with ladylike makeup, bouncy curls, and a pretty purse.  Who said fashion couldn’t be functional?

1. Flat Brim Baseball Hat, $14.99, 2. Diamond Brilliant Leather Cap, $49.99, 3. Brooks Brothers Wool Baseball Hat, $48, 4. Tie Dye Baseball Cap, $20.35

Hats off to you.

Why Did You Wear That: Ribs + Cleavage = Ribbage

By |February 26th, 2013|Why Did You Wear That?|

spring 2013 trends crop topHow’s that New Year’s resolution going?  Good I hope since one of spring 2013’s biggest trends requires baring a bit of skin.  Oh, that’s right, ladies, get your abdominals in check, cause they will be spring (into summer)’s leading ladies.  The look already made an appearance last spring, but didn’t pick up mass momentum.  Remember how much you hated this look? (I loved it).  Well, looks like we (yes, we) are giving it another go once the frost breaks and fortunately the crop top of the season is FUPA friendly.  You see, the key to achieving the look is showing the bit of skin above your belly button and right below the ribs.  So pair a short top with a higher waisted skirt or shorts and you’ll be giving all the right kind of ribbage.  (Should you need an ab blasting workout…)

sex and the city il cantonoriCarrie Bradshaw and I have always been fans of baring our bellies and if Herve Leger has any say in it, the trend will just continue right on into to fall.  So, whattya say, ladies?
