Friday Frocks: Cheers To That

By |December 5th, 2014|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

champagne toastThere’s lot to celebrate this time of year besides having just celebrated WhyDid.com’s sixth year of publishing as was made painfully clear this afternoon as our email chain grew longer and longer in an attempt to get all of our favorite girls together for a holiday party.  Every time we thought we’d locked down a day to congregate over cooking and cocktails, someone would pipe in with regrets over having obligations to another engagement.  We still haven’t quite nailed down a date for our holiday festivities, but in the meantime, I did nail down some festive frocks to get you through this season’s holiday party.  Cheers!

Why Did You Wear That: Game, Set, Match.

TennisBall.Net_As much as I like contradictions and mixing things that have absolutely no business swinging from the same monkey bars on the playground, I also love a good pair.  Separates aren’t reserved only for suiting anymore and with the surge in popularity of crop tops (thank you, fashion gods), designers have capitalized on one of this season’s biggest trends: tops with shorter silhouettes worn with long line skirts and shorts.

Not all separates may be office appropriate, but these sets sure do add an unexpected take on cocktail attire (little black what?).  And when you mix and match these separates with some closet essentials, you’ve tripled your look.  That’s my kind of retail math.  A crop top can easily be converted to casual by pairing it with your favorite jeans and heels or give a full skirt a Saturday brunch vibe while wearing it with a white t-shirt and sneakers.  (Remember my experiment in dressing down a sequin crop top?).

Friday Frocks: Lil Bit of This, Lil Bit of That

By |November 8th, 2013|Friday Frocks|

Every woman, no matter her age, lifestyle, or body type must own the perfect LBD.  At times, a simple black frock can seem a bit dull, but there are some easy ways to add interest to an otherwise standard staple.  To avoid falling flat, texture can be a crucial part of keeping your LBD from being run of the mill.  Leather, lace, or a combination of the two will take you from standard to standout.  In a classic shape or something more au courant, the basic little black dress has never looked better.
